Role

l Reviewing and recommending targets for HSE performance of the companyand assessing progress by the company towards those targets.l Incorporating appropriate occupational health, safety and environmental

measures at all PSO facilities in New Vision retail outlets (NVROs).l Ensuring that appropriate HSE assessment activities are conducted as part of assets acquisition and disposal activities.l Ensuring that necessary awareness and training on health, safety andenvironmental areas are provided to employees and contractors.l Further ensuring that regular HSE audits are conducted on all PSO facilities.

l Investigating HSE incidents within the company and considering appropriateactions and measures to minimize the risk of recurrence.



ISO 14001 Certification f or Envir onmental Management Systems (EMS)

By 2007, five PSO facilities (Mehmmod Kot, Machike, LMT Korangi, KeamariTerminal ± C and Central Lab) have third-party verification of theenvironmentalmanagement system according to the ISO 14001 standards. At thesefacilities,all the processes have been designed in such a manner that they not onlyremainenvironment friendly but their performance is measured and continualimprovementtargets are set for performance improvement.ISO 14001 assist our managers in analyzing the environmental and safetyriskinvolved within the total business system through review of all theorganization¶s

activities, products and services.

Diesel & Furnace Oil Consumption:

» Pakistan consumes around 8 million tons of diesel & 7.2 million tons of furnace oil per year.» Around 9 million tons of diesel & furnace oil is imported and PSO aloneimports 3.4 million tons of diesel & 4 million tons of furnace oil.» If 10 % of the total diesel & furnace oil consumed by Pakistan (i.e. 0.80million tons of diesel & 0.72 million tons of furnace oil ) is switched toblended fuel the country¶s import bill can decline by ~ US $ 1.00 Billion

revolved around occupational safety as fire drills, etc.

A step towards the employees¶ wellbeing is the installation of water filter plant atPSO facilities i.e. terminals, depots, aviation stations, LPG plants, blendingplants and retail outlets. There are three main sources of drinking water supplyat PSO facilities; 1. Ground Water 2. Local Water Supply System3. Tankers The drinking water sample is collected for testing at laboratory.G

round water is tested once a year for microbial & chemical constituents whilepiped & non-piped system of supply is checked bi-annually for microbialconstituents and once in year for chemical constituents.
