Bardonecchia is situated in Italy on the French-Italian border and is approximately 100kms
east of Turin.
The town is not a purpose built ski resort, and is all the more interesting for having a culture
of its own, which reflects the tradition of an Alpine town. The old part of the town is typical,
with narrow cobbled streets, and numerous cafes, restaurants, pizzerias, souvenir shops,
butcher, baker and supermarket type retail outlets.
As a ski resort, it is a top class area, with an excellent record for snow. It has a resort height
of 1300m with skiing extending up to 2800m. The lower slopes of the resort are protected by
artificial snow making cannons making Bardonecchia a great choice for early or late season
skiing.
The slopes face predominantly north / north west, which is a major factor in conserving snow
cover. There is good progression from the beginner slopes to the intermediate level, and beyond,
and you can be sure that your students will ski much of the mountain regardless of their ability at
the start of the week.
Our ski instructors provides top quality, safe, friendly and fun instruction, and progress during the
week is guaranteed. All of our instructors go the “extra mile” to make sure that your students go
away happy, improved and ready to come back.
“Camp Smith” is the central departure point for almost all the ski-based facilities. The ski school,
the ski hire shops, the overnight ski storage area and restaurants are located here. Hired ski
equipment is stored here overnight in heated and secure locked cellars so the trip back to the
hotel is made unencumbered by skis and boots.

Trips Policies
• The academies have policies designed to cover most
eventualities.
• The staff involved in residential trips are made aware of their
roles and responsibilities.
• The primary role of staff is to keep all of the students safe.
Acts of Terror / Natural Disaster
• The Trip Leader will take the group back to their hotel as quickly as
possible (using secure forms of transportation).
• Once in the hotel they group will go into ‘lock-down’; the students are
not allowed to leave their rooms without permission from the teachers.
• The Trip Leader will consult with Mr. Antell and the British Embassy to
decide the safest course of action; usually, that is to stay where they are
(and not to rush to an airport / train station – as these are often used as
secondary targets).
• Parents will be contacted by the school. Do not try to contact the Trip
Leader; we need to keep that line of communication open.
