My Summer Trip to Italy
By Caitlin Nadeau
This past summer, I spend 11 days traveling around Italy with a small group
from my high school, led by our Latin teacher.
This was our group: Lora, Mr. Yaggy, myself, Garitt, and Gretja.
We flew into Venice, where we spent 2 days.
This is the Rialto Bridge over looking the Grand Canal.
Unfortunately on the second day, my
camera died so I have no pictures to commemorate it.
A gondola ride in the rain is surprisingly fun.
Next we explored Florence.
This is the Duomo, the largest free standing dome in the world.
As the home of the Renaissance, there were beautiful sculptures everywhere.
As we were leaving, we stopped at a lookout point above the city.
It was probably
one of the most
beautiful sights I
have ever seen,
looking out past
this fake
statue of
David.
The next day we spent 10 hours in the bus on the way to Sorrento,
so of course, sleeping ensued.
We made a short stop in the hill town of Siena.
We climbed to the top of that tower!
The view from the top was
breathtaking.
Next we traveled to the island of Capri.
After a short unexpected detour
to a beautiful lookout point…
we found our way to the top of the
mountain…
to the Villa Jovis.
This was the home of the second
emperor Tiberius.
And amazingly, it is fairly well preserved.
