HISTORICAL EVENT FOR THE BIBLICAL REFORMED CHURCH

Since the church council of the GK Riverlea, Noordgesig decided in 2004 to fall under the care of the Bybels Gereformeerde Kerk (Biblical Reformed church) and

this church decided to act in accordance to that decision, the chairman of the BGK general assembly, Dr JJL Hope, brought to the attention of the Assembly the necessity and urgency of establishing right of ownership on Erf 933, Riverlea Extension and the church building. After some negotiation with the city council, led by Dr JJL Hope, to secure the premises and property without any financial obligation, within the context of the law on land expropriation without reimbursement, the process was finalised on 11 February 2019 and followed by the handover of the

title deed to the Die Bybels Gereformeerde Kerk on 11 February 2019.

WE INTRODUCE

Rev Alwyn en Carin Tredoux GK Kemptonpark-Noord

Alwyn Tredoux is the youngest of 8 children and a born and bred Pretorian. He was confirmed in the GK Innesdal and matriculated at Hoërskool Hendrik Verwoerd. He started his studies in theology in 1992 at the former PU for CHE and his first congregation was in Christiana. After 2 years he was called to the GK Vaalpark, where he met a new Sasol engineer, Carin Labuschagne, in 2005. They were married in 2007 in Lydenburg, Carin’s hometown. It was there where she matriculated and was confirmed in one of the oldest Reformed churches in the country. She completed

her degree in works engineering at Tukkies and then a doctoral in engineering management. She is still employed at Sasol. Alwyn was called to the GK Kemptonpark-Noord in 2011 and started his ministry there in February 2012. Kemptonpark-Noord is one of three congregations in Kempton Park that all work together. Highlights of the Kemptonpark-Noord calendar include: The Lord’s Supper congregation lunches, a potjiekos day, the church camp and the women’s day. Alwyn is an ardent Bloubul supporter and also likes to write when he gets the opportunity. A range of short stories and two youth novels – Die dag toe ‘n reënboog weggeraak het and Helde en Boewe in die Wilde Weste – have flowed from his pen. The latter won the 2017 Afrikaans winner of the Maskew Miller Longman Literature Award. The Tredouxs enjoy reading, travelling, watching TV series and board games. They also visit as often as possible with family in Pretoria and Mpumalanga.
