Preparing the talk

1. Write out your speech in full on a piece of

A4 paper (use both sides if required).

2. Do 2 practice runs based on the full text

of the speech.

- 1st run: Hear yourself speak about your

points.

- 2nd run: Add and/or remove points from

your speech.

Stick to ONLY 3 main body points.

3. Prepare the visual aids for your speech

and finish it.

4. Do at least 2 timed practice runs of your

speech with the visual aids that you’ve

prepared.

5. Make sure that you use connectors in your

speech.

- First, Second, Next, After that, etc.

Presenting the talk

1. Establish eye-contact with the audience:

Instructor and members of the floor.

2. Be responsive to the audience:

- If they seem bored & sleepy, change your

pace.

3. Use your voice to stress information in your

speech:

- Repeat key words, Stress main points.

4. Don’t speak too fast;

Allow for pauses for the audience to digest

what you’re saying.

5. Don’t block the audience’s view of you.

- Visuals or turn your back to the audience.

6. Leave time at the end of the presentation

for the audience to ask questions.
