Germany is a country in Western Europe
Berlin is the capital city of Germany. It has a population of 3.4 million people,and is Germany's largest city.

The territory covers almost 360,000 km2; it is the seventh largest country by area in Europe and the 63rd largest in the world.
Geographical Characteristics
Germany has a variety of landscapes.
•In the south, the Bavarian Alps form the border between Germany and Austria. These high mountains tower over the surrounding plains.
• In the southwest is the Black Forest. It is the country’s largest wooded area.
•The north coast is lapped by the North Sea to the west, and the Baltic Sea to the east. Both coasts have long, sandy beaches.
RIVERSThree large rivers flow through Germany:
The longest is the Rhine River. It is one of the world’s greatest commercial waterways..
The Elbe is the second-longest river in Germany. At the mouth of the Elbe is the city of Hamburg, Germany’s busiest port.
The Danube River rises in southern Germany. It carries many industrial products to other European countries.

National Holidays•Easter:Easter is one of the most important holidays in Germany. On Easter Day, families get together and eat a meal together..After the meal, the children search for Easter eggs that the Easter Bunny has left for them.
•St. Nikolaus Day
December 6th is the celebration of St. Nikolaus.
Small gifts are distributed to those children who have been well-behaved.
•Christmas (Weihnachten):
The official Christmas holiday in Germany is on December 25 and 26, however, most people in Germany begin their observance of Christmas on December 24.
