"It's about sex, love, relationships, careers, a time in your life when everything's possible. And it's about friendship because when you're single and in the city, your friends are your family."

—The original treatment used by Crane, Kauffman and Bright to pitch the series to NBC.

The TV program Friends has targeted to present daily life situation that young adults have to face alone in the real world. Not only did they meet

their target but also they ended up going beyond that and expressed much more through the series. The genre was met very well with high standards but they also had to carry out surveys to reassure that the context that will

be carried out isn’t too offensive to for their viewers.

The target audience is from 18-35 of age, this is because of the language used and the action shown on screen.

Friends was written by young adults who was going through the same life situation. The pitch was declined a few times before it hit the screens, met the target audience and was giving more then expected to the viewers. The genre of sitcom was a success, they made their viewers laugh and when they realised that some

of the jokes were not funny they altered them and presented it to young people in the industry.
