The Gaming Community
The gaming community is mostly an online community of people who play online video
games. The community can be of people from the same location who might or might not know
each other in the real world or from different parts of the world, which is often the case. What
brings the community together are the online video games that we usually play, competing,
playing tournaments, and sharing about the games. The community includes the developers who
make the games too; the programmers are the crucial part of the community because they ensure
that we have new games to play and that the current games are updated and fixed for possible
bugs. The community has grown exponentially over time, has membership from young children
to adults. The higher percentage of the community is made up of males, with very few females in
the community. The larger part of the community started out when they were adolescents, and
they continue to later in adulthood.
The gaming community does not require any special membership of any kind, but we are
some online gaming groups that members can join, the groups are usually meant for particular
games, zones, or regions. The members of the said groups do not have any formal structure but
just the common interest or intention. The groups might have an administrator or a founder who
from time to time organize a challenge, a competition, tournament, or just a meetup of the
members. We always share information pertaining the games, share tips, share hacks, or any
information that a person feels like sharing in the groups. I noted that there were groups that had

rules, and were meant strictly for specific purposes and agendas while other were free, free entry
and exit without any form of restrictions. A large number of gamers only care for what they
joined the community to do, just to play the video games. Some even get addicted to the games,
playing the whole day to deep in the night.
There were other games where gamers could compete for some amount, they had to play
against another, and when they win, they take the prize. I found players who could not maintain a
conversation with other people; I can say that they had been turned introverts by the games they
played. Most games play from their houses, all they needed was a gaming console and Internet
connectivity. Other video games did not require internet connectivity such as some PlayStation
and Xbox games like FIFA and PES. The gamers in this category could play against their friends
who were physically there, and they interacted while playing the games. There were game
stations that I visited, such stations brought together the gamers, and unlike the online games that
people played from their houses, here they could play against a physical opponent. The gaming
community is very huge, and when I visited the gaming center, I found a section of online video
games and the other for the non-online games.
