  • 3. This is Jack and Gabriel. One day, they went to Room 7 with some other children and Mr McMillan to make Hokey Pokey. They wrote this story to tell us how they did it.
    1
  • 4. First we make sure that everything was ready to make hokey pokey. This is what we used.
    Heat plate
    Container of sugar
    butter
    Wooden spoon
    Recipe
    Paper towel
    pot
    Golden syrup
    Table spoon
    Tea spoon
    Baking soda
    tray
    2
  • 5. Then we read the recipe for the hokey pokey.
    3
  • 6. We took a paper towel and put on the butter and wiped it on the baking tray. This was to stop the hokey pokey sticking to the tray.
    4
  • 7. After that, we took 4 tablespoons of sugar and put it in the pot and 2 tablespoons of golden syrup as well.
    5
  • 8. We took the spoon and put it on a paper towel so it did not stick on the table.
    6
  • 9. We started to mix it on a low heat. We heated it until the mixture got gooey .
    7
  • 10. Whaea Nadine was setting the time for 7 minutes. It had to boil that long so the hokey pokey can be nice and crunchy.
    8
  • 11. We were still mixing until it got golden. It did not take too long. Here, Jack is putting in the baking soda and Gabriel is mixing it fast.
    9
  • 12. The hokey pokey fluffed up and we poured it on the tray as fast as we could so it did not stick to the pot.
We thought it looked like mud because it was dark brown. Lets just hope it does not taste like mud.
    10
  • 13. Then went to the kitchen in the hall to wash the pots. The pots were soaking in the sink to clean them more easily. Then we filled the sink with the hot water and dishwashing liquid. The hokey pokey came off easily.
    11
  • 14. We went up to the staffroom. We wrapped the hokey pokey with glad-wrap and put it in the fridge so it could set.
    12
  • 15. The next day we went to Mr McMillan for the hokey pokey again.
We took a knife and cracked it in pieces and tasted it.
It was crunchy and it did not taste like mud. It was very sweet and nice.
    13
  • 16. Then on Friday we went back to Mr McMillan. He taught us how to make boxes with glue, scissors, pen, ruler, and paper.
    It was very fun.
    14
  • 17. In the afternoon Mr McMillan called us again. The glue on our box was dry. Then we halved the hokey pokey and put it inside the box. We put tape on the lid to close it and then went home.
    15
  • 18. As we left, Mr McMillan said Dont eat it all at once or you will get sick!
    We didntget sick.
