Findley Visitors!Lunch !

Parents may join their child(ren) for lunch in the cafeteria. All visitors must check in at the office and have a visitor sticker or badge. Although we welcome visitors at this time, it is important that students maintain as much independence as possible during this time, such as opening containers and cleaning up their area. !Recess!

Visitors are not allowed on the playground. This is a time for students to build their friendships during interactive play. !Findley Flyers

Parents are welcome to cheer on their students for Flyers on Thursday mornings before school. If you want to participate with Flyers during the school day, please contact Findley Flyers to sign up as a volunteer. Younger siblings are unable to attend at this time as well for supervision and safety reasons.

Findley Fall Festival

(FFF) Happy Fall

Y’all!!! Kids & adults are

encouraged to wear costumes

to the Findley Fall Festival on Friday, Oct. 21st from

5:00-8:00pm (no costumes during regular school hours).

It’s all good fun so please leave your truly scary

will be a DJ playing music & kids can do the spooky hokey pokey, limbo, & much more!

There will also be fall crafts, a candy corn contest and a

spooky maze! 5th graders will be serving up food at the FFF to earn money for 5th grade outdoor school- cash only & come hungry! BE THERE or

BEWARE! !Learning Options Information

for 2017-18 The Beaverton School District is nationally recognized for high student achievement and innovative programs. Beaverton students in grades 6-12 have the opportunity to investigate learning options that best fit their academic needs. Students can choose their neighborhood school or one of a number of small learning options. Transportation is provided. !Applications will be available starting Monday, October 24, 2016. All applicants must reside within the Beaverton School District boundaries. Current Beaverton School District students are able to apply online using their student ID. Resident students not currently attending a Beaverton school will need to complete a paper application available online, or at any school office beginning October 24, 2016.

Arrival & Dismissal Arrival: Children should arrive on campus between 8:20-8:30am. No supervision is provided for children until 8:15am. Dismissal: Each child should have a dismissal plan that is communicated to the child and their teacher. A child's dismissal plan should include one of the following: Bus(what number?), Parent Pickup, Daycare Van, Walker, Flag Pole, Biker, Goddard, Common Ground. Thank you, parents, for NOT coming to your child's classroom at the end of the day.

2016-2017 Student Directory !The Findley student directory is in the process of being put together. An information form and order envelope were available at packet pick up -- please return them to the school office as soon as possible. !This is also your opportunity to make any changes before the directory is published for distribution. As it stands now, if you have requested your phone/address to be ‘unlisted’ with the Beaverton School District you will also be unlisted for this directory, unless we are notified otherwise. !If you have moved or have changed a phone number and would like to have this reflected in the directory - Now is the time to act. :) !Our Findley Student Directory is only for Findley Families. Being listed in this directory does not change your preference for being ‘unlisted’ with the Beaverton School District. To make changes for the directory, simply make a note on the form before returning it to the office. !On another note - watch your child's backpack for the directory drawing contest. :) !Lastly, if you have not ordered your copy of the student directory - this is the time to do that. Send your $5 payment to the main office with your completed order envelope by September 30th. Very few extra copies will be ordered. !If you have any questions, please contact Rupal Shah at [email protected] or call 503-805-0927

District Goal: WE  empower  all  students  to  achieve  post-‐high  school  success.  The Beaverton School District recognizes the diversity and worth of all individuals and groups. TAG Nomination Process Every year students are considered for Talented and Gifted services in the Beaverton School District. If you think your child might qualify, you may wish to complete the Parent Information Form, which is available in the school office. Completing this form gives Findley's TAG committee more information about your child, but is not required. All qualified students will be considered regardless of the form's completion. The Parent Information form should be submitted to the office by the end of the day on Wednesday, October 13, 2016 for its consideration. TAG testing will occur Nov. 2nd-9th. Please look at Findley’s website for further information on TAG.

Plan Your Safe Route to School As we all know, traffic in and around our school is chaotic at arrival and dismissal times. The roads and school parking lots cannot handle the volume of cars typically dropping off and picking up students. The majority of BSD students are in the walk/ bike zone or are offered bus service to their school. Please spend some time before school starts finding a safe walk or bike route to school or your bus stop. Click here for Findley’s walk zone maps and suggested routes.

Check out BSD’s flyer for tips on being a responsible road user, whatever travel mode you choose. !Safety is everyone’s responsibility: keep your eyes open, look out for each other and help everyone arrive to school safely. You can help make the route to school safe for everyone. !Pedestrians Be visible. Wear bright and/or reflective clothing.

Before crossing a street, look “left-right-left” for traffic and keep looking as you cross.

When available, use crosswalks with traffic lights and signals; wait for a walk signal and a green light for your turn to cross the street.

Bicyclists Always wear your helmet.

Be visible. Wear a bright jacket or add reflective material or blinking light to increase visibility.

Stay alert and ride predictably, in a straight line, follow the rules of the road just like a vehicle.

Motorists Reduce speed in school zones, and be ready to stop at all times.

Stop and stay stopped for pedestrians at intersections, whether the crosswalk is marked or not.

Be patient and wait for students to complete their crossing before proceeding.

No matter how you travel, stay completely focused on the road and put your cell phone away.
