Ani Art Academies is a global, non-profit organization that delivers a comprehensive, multi-year drawing and painting education to aspiring Artists around the world. Academies are strategically located in exotic tourist destinations with the

aim to empower local Artists to create, express, and communicate in new and exciting ways. We are enabling graduates to interact with tourists and residents in a more intellectually and financially rewarding capacity.

“Ani” is derived from a Swahili word meaning that we are “on a path or great journey.” Hardworking students are rewarded with a lifetime of creative freedom through logic and discipline. In the beginning our limits are constrained by

Join ar t ist Bob Eggleton as he works with model Sarah McGinnis to show you how an ar t ist and model can work together to br ing l i fe to nebulous ideas and create new vis ions. We' l l d iscuss how both s ides can communicate, how to get what you want f rom a model sess ion, and how to put i t a l l on f i lm (or card) for future reference. We' l l explore the use of costumes, props, l ight ing, and more. Ar t ists wi l l have oppor tunit ies to take photos and sketch as we work through di f ferent ideas in this interac t ive sess ion.

We' l l work through posing, us ing props, gett ing into charac ter, re lax ing on stage, col laborat ing with ar t ists , and most of a l l , having fun whi le mak ing great ar t . This low-pressure workshop is great for a l l who would l ike to test the waters with a l i t t le guidance (you wi l l be able to s ign up for a model s lot af ter the workshop, too) . Ar t ists are welcome to sketch, watch, or jo in in on the ac t iv i t ies to see what i t feels l ike to be on the other s ide of the process.

Ever needed a hand with your paint ing (or maybe a foot)? Sometimes the smal l detai ls get lost in reference shots because we forget about the l i t t le things. Here 's your oppor tunit y to get those random shots you never think to get—fabr ic fo lds and designs, hands holding props, the back of a lady 's hair s t y le, or the boot beneath a sk i r t . We' l l be gett ing up c lose and personal on the stage to let ar t ists photograph or sketch the bits and pieces that can make or break a great paint ing. This workshop wi l l be highly interac t ive and ar t ists are welcome to design their own shots as they need. Come f i l l in those pesk y l i t t le bi ts that a lways seem to get away!

BEYOND THE FREEZE FR AME: AC TION SHOTS, WEAPONS, & THINGS THAT MOVE - CSSL STAFF

"Don' t hold that pose" is the theme for this workshop. Br ing your high speed, mult iple shot cameras to get a piece of the ac t ion as we move through di f ferent scenes. This workshop is geared towards gett ing a more real ist ic por trayal of ac t ion in your shots, instead of stat ic posed photos that miss the par t iculars that only come with ac tual motion, such as muscle tension, weight distr ibut ion and balance. Work ing with several models at a t ime, we' l l explore batt le scenes, dance, and other forms of interac t ion and motion. This wi l l be a fast-moving workshop to help get your creat ive ju ices f lowing!

Have you ever wanted to go sketching around town to gather reference for an i l lustrat ion but were ner vous about i t , or weren’t sure where to go or what to look for? This workshop is des igned to sor t out the var ious problems we might encounter whi le sketching in urban environs and how to overcome those anxiet ies.

Our urban adventure wi l l begin at the GoggleWorks where we wi l l prep with a shor t c lass on what to br ing, how to reac t to your surroundings, and about best prac t ices for sketching and recording information quick ly and ef f ic ient ly. We wi l l then be shutt led to three di f ferent locat ions around Reading so we are not walk ing a l l day. There wi l l be demonstrat ions in each of these locat ions on how to analyze your surroundings to f ind unique charac ter ist ics in urban landscapes, and how those charac ter ist ics can be turned into inspirat ion for r ich and compel l ing v isual wor ld-bui lding projec ts.
