We thank them for their service in Jesus name. There may be some recommissionings next weekend as well for those who are away from the Parish this week. The Mary Immaculate Church repair works are now complete except for the stained glass windows, which will still take a lot more time due to the long list of Churches in Brisbane that still need this specialist repair work undertaken. The Stations of the Cross and statues will also require some further work to fully restore them. We announced some time ago that the Archbishop has given the Oratory Fathers the pastoral care of the St Gregory’s Latin Mass community. The Fathers take turns to travel to Wilston each Sunday at 7:30am to offer the traditional Mass for the community. You will notice a section of the Newsletter set aside for any community announcements for them. Please note that All Saints Day will be celebrated next Sunday, 1st November and that Monday, 2nd November is All Souls Day. Masses that day will be at 7:00am (St Elizabeth’s) and 7:00pm (Mary Immaculate) as usual. It is such an important part of our faith that we pray and offer Masses for the repose of the souls of our deceased family and friends who may be being purified in purgatory. If we are in purgatory one day we will certainly want our family and friends to be praying for us to assist this purifying process to be made completely ready for heaven. The new young women’s group is progressing well. There will be more news about this next week. Lord, I believe in you: increase my faith. I trust in you: strengthen my trust. I love you: let me love you more and more. I am sorry for my sins: deepen my sorrow.

I worship you as my first beginning, I long for you as my last end, I praise you as my constant helper, And call on you as my loving protector.

Guide me by your wisdom, Correct me with your justice, Comfort me with your mercy, Protect me with your power.

I offer you, Lord, my thoughts: to be fixed on you; My words: to have you for their theme; My actions: to reflect my love for you; My sufferings: to be endured for your greater glory.

I want to do what you ask of me: In the way you ask, For as long as you ask, Because you ask it.

Lord, enlighten my understanding, Strengthen my will, Purify my heart, and make me holy.

Help me to repent of my past sins And to resist temptation in the future. Help me to rise above my human weaknesses And to grow stronger as a Christian.

Let me love you, my Lord and my God, And see myself as I really am: A pilgrim in this world,

A Christian called to respect and love All whose lives I touch, Those under my authority, My friends and my enemies.

Help me to conquer anger with gentleness, Greed by generosity, Apathy by fervor. Help me to forget myself And reach out toward others.

Make me prudent in planning, Courageous in taking risks. Make me patient in suffering, unassuming in prosperity.

Keep me, Lord, attentive at prayer, Temperate in food and drink, Diligent in my work, Firm in my good intentions.

Let my conscience be clear, My conduct without fault, My speech blameless, My life well-ordered.

Put me on guard against my human weaknesses. Let me cherish your Grace and love for me, Keep your law, And come at last to your salvation.

Teach me to realize that this world is passing, That my true future is the happiness of heaven, That life on earth is short, And the life to come eternal.

Help me to prepare for death With a proper fear of judgment, And great trust in your goodness. Lead me safely through death To the endless joy of heaven.

Grant this through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Thirtieth Sunday in Ordinary Time - Year B

24th/25th October 2015

SUNDAY MASS READINGS

First Reading: Jeremiah 31/7-9

The Lord says this: Shout with joy for Jacob! Hail the chief of nations! Proclaim! Praise! Shout! 'The Lord has saved his people, the remnant of Israel!' See, I will bring them back from the land of the North and gather them from the far ends of earth; all of them: the blind and the lame, women with child, women in labour: a great company returning here. They had left in tears, I will comfort them as I lead them back; I will guide them to streams of water, by a smooth path where they will not stumble. For I am a father to Israel, and Ephraim is my first-born son. The Word of the Lord

Response: Thanks be to God

Responsorial Psalm 125 (Said by all)

When the Lord delivered Zion from bondage, it seemed like a dream. Then was our mouth filled with laughter, on our lips there were songs. The heathens themselves said: 'What marvels the Lord worked for them!' What marvels the Lord worked for us! Indeed we were glad. Deliver us, O Lord, from our bondage as streams in dry land. Those who are sowing in tears will sing when they reap. They go out, they go out, full of tears, carrying seed for the sowing: they come back, they come back, full of song, carrying their sheaves.

Second Reading: Hebrews 5/1-6

Every high priest has been taken out of mankind and is appointed to act for men in their relations with God, to offer gifts and sacrifices for sins; and so he can sympathise with those who are ignorant or uncertain because he too lives in the limitations of weakness. That is why he has to make sin offerings for himself as well as for the people. No one takes this honour on himself, but each one is called by God, as Aaron was. Nor did Christ give himself the glory of becoming high priest, but he had it from the one who said to him: You are my son, today I have become your father, and in another text: You are a priest of the order of Melchizedek, and for ever. The Word of the Lord

Response: Thanks be to God

Gospel Acclamation:

Alleluia, alleluia! Our Saviour Jesus Christ has done away with death, and brought us life through his gospel.

Alleluia!

Gospel: Mark 10/46-52

As Jesus left Jericho with his disciples and a large crowd, Bartimaeus (that is, the son of Timaeus), a blind beggar, was sitting at the side of the road. When he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to shout and to say, 'Son of David, Jesus, have pity on me.' And many of them scolded him and told him to keep quiet, but he only shouted all the louder, 'Son of David, have pity on me.' Jesus stopped and said, 'Call him here.' So they called the blind man. 'Courage,' they said 'get up; he is calling you.' So throwing off his cloak, he jumped up and went to Jesus. Then Jesus spoke, 'What do you want me to do for you?' 'Rabbuni,' the blind man said to him 'Master, let me see again.' Jesus said to him, 'Go; your faith has saved you.' And immediately his sight returned and he followed him along the road. The Gospel of the Lord

Response: Praise to You, Lord Jesus Christ

Memorial Acclamation: Number Two When we eat this Bread and drink this Cup we proclaim your Death, O Lord, until you come again.
