From Geoffrey's Desk . . .
Well, our 2020 Vacation Bible School is just
about over. One more day, and it will be history. It has taken
some doing to try and keep everyone safe, but I appreciate all the
extra measures that have been put into place. A lot of people
have pitched in to help make this week great as we have explored
the idea of being “Anchored in Faith.” The kids are learning about
Noah and Job, and they are seeing how faith got those men
through some very difficult times. A huge thank you goes to B. J.
Worthington for his vision in putting this on and for all the months
of planning. I also want to recognize Chris Watson for the many
hours she put into painting a variety of our sea creatures. As is
always the case, we never know exactly what will come from the
seeds that are planted during weeks like these, but we will see
what God does in giving the increase.
Preaching from the deck of a ship was an interesting
experience this past Sunday, and a lot of work went into building
that structure. A special thanks goes to Wilton McKinney for his
construction work behind the scenes. I imagine I will be once
again preaching on “dry ground” this coming Sunday morning at
10:00, and I will look forward to seeing you then if you can join
us.
