Fountainbridge / Craiglockhart Green Group Campaign News SAVE SHANDON POST OFFICE The post office at 57 Slateford Road serves the communities of Slateford and Shandon. Under plans issued by the Post Office, it is one of 258 branches that will be closed in Scotland. Fountainbridge / Craiglockhart Green Group has launched a campaign to raise public awareness of the closure plans and to urge the community to make its views known. Details of the Post Office consultation are overleaf. The Fountainbridge / Craiglockhart Green Group is also urging the Post Office, as part of its Area Plan, to review the services available in its branches with a view to strengthening individual businesses. Robin Harper -- Lothians List MSP -- has tabled a motion in the Scottish Parliament (S3M-02468). He calls for the Scottish Government to fund the financial shortfall in exchange for a commitment that no further Scottish Post Offices will be closed. Please support that call from your local Green MSP, or ask other local MSPs to support the motion.   • Many older people or those with young children rely on a post office being within walking distance. Axing the service will hit us hardest.

    Removing a service which most people use at some point will increase car journeys, especially as our local sorting office has moved from Russell Road to South Gyle.

    Our post office is part of a network of local shops. Removing it will threaten them.
