Policy decision membership

Motion 59 at GA 2008:

develop contractual relationships with all National Initiatives, to come to regional approaches and strategies and to have a represented National Initiative as an observer to all Board meetings.

From organic development, towards planned development

Network partners

3 Different levels of engagement:• National Focal Point: individual, FSC member

specified and agreed task, voluntary basis with expense reimbursement, no representation

• National Representative: individual, specific and agreed responsibilities, part-time, contract with FSC-I, ‘revenue sharing’, represents FSC

• National Office: group of people, legal entity, financial/organisational sound, professional fundraising, contractual agreement, yearly targets, revenue sharing, represents FSC



FSC National Focal Point

• Only information services! • Establishes each year an agreed work plan• Reports each year to FSC• Needs Regional Office for official representation

In: Argentina, Colombia, Fiji, Kenya, Nepal, Tanzania, Uganda

Possibly also: Bulgaria, Sri Lanka

Note: possible relationship with GEF-Eco-services???



FSC National Representative

• Establishes each year an agreed work plan (targets)• Receives revenue sharing (1/2 of NO, based on

certificates)• Reports each year to FSC• Can represent FSC in the country• Lower level of responsibilities and information

In: China (formal FSC staff), Italy, Republic of Congo, India, South Africa, Ukraine

Vacancies in: Cameroon, DRC, Gabon

FSC National Office

• Establishes each year an agreed work plan (targets)• Receives revenue sharing (based on certificates)• Reports each year to FSC• Can represent FSC in the country• High level of responsibilities and information• Have a structure that mirrors FSC AC’s (members, BoD)

Network Unit

Responsibilities:• Strategic development of Network;• Coordination RO’s;• Endorsement of Network Partners;• Evaluation system NP’s and FSC (accountability)• Training program development;• Advocacy & Lobby coordination;
