With the announcement of Ford’s 2015 Transit Wagon, a 15-passenger van, one large safety
feature stood out: a canopy-style airbag system that drops from the ceiling to protect the
passengers’ heads and neck in the event of a side-impact accident or a rollover. This new level
of protection got us thinking about all the amazing safety features Ford has incorporated into
their vehicles. On the following pages, we have picked the 7 biggest safety features on Ford’s
lineup of cars and trucks.
Let’s start out with the feature that got
us excited. The canopy system, available
on many models, including the 2015
Escape, is a combination of side-curtain
airbags and rollover censors to reduce
injury and passenger ejection.
With the help of censors
and technology, the
Personal Safety System
properly times the
airbag deployment for
optimum protection.
The system sensing the
occupants, seatbelt
usage, and seat position.
This feature detects oversteer, understeer,
wheel slip, and roll motion, as well as helps
you maintain control when on ice, gravel, or
wet roads. It also can predict when a
vehicle is going too fast for a given curve
and will correct by reducing the speed.
Since information is power, the F-150 is available
with a 4-camera system to give you every piece of
information about all four sides of your truck.
Know who, what, and where everything is without
leaving your cab.
Preventing an accident
is just as important as
protecting against them.
The new Edge has a
camera on the front of
the vehicle to catch
when a driver might be
drifting into another
lane and will vibrate the
steering wheel to inform
the driver.
BLIS (Blind Spot Information
System) incorporates two
rear radars to warn you if
another vehicle is entering
your blind spot. The system
works both while you are
driving and backing up. With
this system, changing lanes
on the freeway and backing
out of a parking spot have
become a whole lot safer.
As technology becomes a bigger and bigger part of our
world, it is important to make sure we can use our
technology safely. This feature allows you to access your
phone, music, GPS, and emergency services without
taking your eyes off the road.
