On M

CD

C inm

regory Ganci to Steinberg D

iagnostic Medical Im

Parkway, for a m

edical appointment.

At the completion of the appointm

ent, Officer N

guyen escorted Ganci through the parking lot

back to his unmarked patrol car. There w

as a large, white C

hevrolet Silverado crew cab pickup

truck stopped in the parking lot. The truck was running w

ith the driver’s door open. The driver of the truck w

as standing at the rear of the truck looking for an item in the truck bed area.

Ganci, w

ho was w

earing belly chains and leg shackles, fled from O

fficer Nguyen, got in the

Silverado, and drove away north through the parking lot. As G

anci fled the area, Officer

Nguyen fired three rounds from

his handgun towards the stolen truck, striking the driver’s side

passenger door and window

. One of the rounds struck G

anci in the left triceps area. G

anci continued northbound on Maryland Parkw

PD vehicle, and struck the left rear panel of a black

Nissan sedan w

hich was also stopped in traffic. The collision caused the N

issan to strike a red C

adillac sedan, which then struck a red H

yundai sedan. G

anci reversed his vehicle and ramm

ed the Nissan three m

ore times in an attem

pt to escape. G

anci then drove forward and ram

med the driver’s side door of the C

adillac. Ganci again

backed up and drove forward, striking the open driver’s side door of the H

yundai, which

caused the door to bend towards the driver’s side front quarter panel. After ram

ming the

Hyundai door, G

anci was able to get by all traffic and continue to flee northbound on M

aryland Parkw

ay. Follow

ing the shooting, Officer N

guyen got into his white, unm

arked Ford Crow

n Victoria, equipped w

ith lights and siren, and pursued Ganci. The pursuit lasted for approxim
