THIS WEEKS NEWS
Maserati Quattroporte Ermenegildo Zegna Edition
The new-generation Maserati Quattroporte made its
debut at the 2013 Detroit Auto Show, and now the 2013
Frankfurt Motor Show will bring us the Quattroporte
Ermenegildo Zegna Limited Edition — a concept car that
brings an "unique new look in color scheme, materials
and finish." According to Maserati, a production version
is expected to arrive in 2014.
As it name suggests, the concept was designed in
cooperation with Ermenegildo Zegna — an Italian luxury
fashion house, specialized in men’s clothing. The
concept is painted in a special finish that uses ultra-fine
aluminum pigments and simulates the fluidity and purity
of metal. For the interior, the concept adds classical
warm hues, like moka and greige — key colors in
Zegna’s latest men’s fashion collections.
Maserati wrapped the seats, door panels and roof
lining in genuine soft leather, while Zegna added a
velvet-smooth, bright fabric.
The Maserati Quattroporte Ermenegildo Zegna Limited
Edition concept car to be unveiled at the Frankfurt
Motor Show features a unique new look in color
scheme, materials and finish. The car, presented as a
limited edition concept, is intended for development
into a production version in 2014 and will maintain the
same personality and quality of the current
Quattroporte range.
Ermenegildo Zegna’s concept for the Maserati
Quattroporte limited edition is the result of a close
collaboration between two companies that are linked
by history, tradition and exclusivity.
The exterior of the Maserati Quattroporte Ermenegildo
Zegna Limited Edition concept car features a special
effect paint finish that simulates the fluidity and purity
of metal, by using ultra-fine aluminum pigments. A
gloss black primer amplifies the brilliance of the
aluminum pigments and creates a sensation of depth.
The platinum metal color effect finish is warmly
nuanced to express the car’s classic and sophisticated
yet technically advanced character.

The material and chromatic research behind the
Maserati Quattroporte Ermenegildo Zegna Limited
Edition is based on a play between the classical and the
contemporary.
A leading role in the Maserati Quattroporte Ermenegildo
Zegna Limited Edition concept car is played by its
interior. Classical warm hues like moka and greige are
re-interpreted in a modern key to emulate Zegna’s latest
men’s fashion collections, conveying a formal,
sophisticated character. Interior components such as
seats, door panels and roof lining are finished in genuine
soft leather, in addition to a velvet-smooth, bright fabric
that, due to Zegna’s vast experience and know-how,
guarantees the level of performance needed for
automotive applications.
Ferrari F40 v Ferrari F50. Chris Harris
Watch as Drive’s Chris Harris takes two automotive
legends – the Ferrari F40 and its younger sibling, the
Ferrari F50 - out on track for some tire-shredding fun.
Is the F40 as good as everyone says? Is the F50 a
letdown and not a patch on the older car?
It’s a tough gig, but someone had to go and find out.

Räikkönen to Ferrari all But Confirmed
The F1 world is only now waiting for the
announcement.
"It's done," agreed Autosprint correspondent Alberto
Antonini.
"Kimi Raikkonen has a Ferrari contract in his pocket."
It is explosive and significant news, because - at least
on paper - Fernando Alonso alongside the Finn is
arguably the best driver duo on the grid.

"If it works, the constructors' title will be harder for us,"
Red Bull's Dr. Helmut Marko told Bild newspaper.
"Or they could tear each other apart. Wait and see," he
added.
Indeed, Spaniard Alonso has made clear his strong
desire to continue to be partnered by the Brazilian Felipe
Massa.
"I have a great respect for Felipe," he is quoted by
Brazil's Globo. "He is a great professional and works
very hard on the race weekends but also in the
simulator.
"If the team decides to keep him, I'll be happy," added
Alonso.
So it's there where the problem may lie. Having already
flirted with Red Bull, the latest rumors are linking Alonso
with a shock switch to McLaren or even Lotus.
"To be honest, we have several plans," said Lotus team
boss Eric Boullier, facing up to the prospect of probably
losing Raikkonen.
"After Ferrari fills their vacancy, our seat will be the most
coveted. So we can afford to see what happens."
The leading candidate to replace Raikkonen at Lotus is
the German Nico Hulkenberg, who put his CV in the
limelight with a top performance at Monza.
But the experienced Massa could be another option.
"Ferrari is a super team; it's difficult to find another like
it," the Ferrari driver said. "So it's important to look at
all the options."
Eric Clapton’s Epic Ferrari SP12 EC on the Road!
Most people would consider those few who own
supercars as being quite rich. However, you know
you’re on a completely different level of wealth when
instead of simply turning up to your local exotic car
dealership; you purchase a completely custom Ferrari!
And in the case of Eric Clapton, that’s what he did
when purchasing his one-off Ferrari 458 Italia based
Ferrari SP12 EC early last year. Originally Clapton
wanted a V12 to power the car in homage to one of his
favorite Ferrari models of all time, the flat-12 engined
BB 512i. However, Ferrari managed to convince the
singer songwriter of the Ferrari 458 Italia’s suitability
and the base was chosen.

driving in London and it’s a great thing to see the $4.7
million car out in the world on occasion!

Ferrari 458 Speciale Live Photos: 2013 Frankfurt Auto Show
The hardcore version of Ferrari’s 458 Italia, the new 458
Speciale, has just been unveiled at the 2013 Frankfurt
Auto Show and we have a fresh batch of photos taken
from the official debut. The car is the spiritual successor
to the previous 430 Scuderia and the 360 Challenge that
came before that.
Key to the car’s performance is a more powerful version
of the 458’s familiar 4.5-liter V-8, which now registers at
597 horsepower and 398 pound-feet of torque. Weight
has also been reduced and the electronic stability
control systems recalibrated.
One of the most innovative features of the 458
Speciale is its Side Slip angle Control system. This
constantly analyzes the car’s slip angle and compares
it with a target value based on speed, grip levels and
other metrics. It then optimizes both torque from the
engine and torque distribution between the two wheels
(via braking) to make the car easier to handle at the
limit.
The end result is a 458 that needs just 3.0 seconds to
reach 62 mph and can lap Ferrari’s Fiorano test track
quicker than any other road-going Ferrari apart from
the LaFerrari flagship and F12 Berlinetta.

Formula One Italian Grand Prix Preview
This weekend is the final European race of the 2013
Formula One season and the home race for both
Ferrari and tire supplier Pirelli. We are, of course,
talking about the Italian Grand Prix at the legendary
Autodromo di Monza, located on the outskirts of Milan.
Forbes Friday Market Report September 13th, 2013
For More Information Please Contact Craig Forbes at (678) 802-5000 or [email protected]
The track was built in 1922 and has hosted the Italian
GP every year since 1950, with the sole exception of
1980, when the race was held at nearby Imola.
It’s the fastest track on the calendar with an average
speed in excess of 150 mph. Additionally, cars exceed
200 mph at four different points on the lap, so the
combination of straight-line speed and braking stability is
the key for race engineers and drivers.
A single lap measures 3.6 miles, and with drivers
covering some 53 laps during the race, the total distance
of the race is about 190 miles. As always it is a
compromise in terms of setup, though lower drag than
normal is favored due to the long straights and high
track efficiency; Monza, alongside Monaco, is one of the
two races where teams will often use track-specific
aerodynamic components.
Looking at the weather forecast for the weekend,
temperatures will be hot and there is a chance of a
storm on both days. Pirelli is bringing its P Zero Orange
hard tires and P Zero White medium tires: the same
used for the previous Belgian Grand Prix.
Going into the weekend, Red Bull Racing’s Sebastian
Vettel leads the Drivers’ Championship with 197 points.
Ferrari’s Fernando Alonso is in second with 151 points
while Lewis Hamilton of Mercedes AMG is in third with
139 points. In the Constructors’ Championship, Red Bull
Racing commands 312 points versus the 235 points of
Mercedes AMG and the 218 points of Ferrari. (Viknesh

1962 Ferrari 250 GTE Has to Be the Coolest Police Car Ever
Long before it became a fashion for automakers to
offer supercars to police forces around the world as
part of highly publicized partnerships, Rome's police
department was using a 12-cylinder Ferrari 250 GTE.
The story of the car seems taken from a movie. At the
beginning of the 1960s, crime in Rome was kept under
control by the diligent police force of the city. To
reward the officers, Italy’s president convinced Enzo
Ferrari to supply two 1962 250 GTEs to Rome’s
mobile squad.
Powered by a 3.0-liter V12 engine, the 250 GTE had
237 horsepower, enough to keep outlaws worried.
Only one of the two cars survives to this day, after
having served for six years in the force, driven by a
policeman that impressed Enzo Ferrari so much that
he offered him a race seat.

The officer refused and continued to chase criminals
around Rome in the Pininfarina-designed Ferrari 250

black Ferrari down Rome's famous Spanish Steps. (Dan

Ferrari Gives Us a Glimpse of How the One Percent Spend their Time
When you own a Ferrari, it goes without saying that you
want to be seen in it and you want clear roads ahead to
drive it on. This is where Ferrari intervenes and makes
sure their most important customers get to enjoy their
sports cars by organizing parades and rallies in cities
around the world – on top of track days, of course.
The latest gathering called “Tributo Ferrari New York
2013”, was organized by Ferrari North America in the
“Big Apple”, where 65 owners and admirers of Ferrari
road cars had the opportunity to drive them on a rally
from Battery Park to Bridgehampton on the East End of
Long Island. And since it was an event for the elite, the
final destination was the Bridgehampton Polo Club.
Seeing 65 Ferraris take on the streets of New York
must have been quite a sight, but it cannot possibly
compare to actually being inside one of these cars
driving from Manhattan through Times Square, Central
Park South and over the Queensboro Bridge before
reaching Long Island. The rally included all current
Ferraris, as well as iconic models including Daytonas,
F40, 275 GTB, 250 GT Series 1 Cabriolet and Dino
246.
To thank the city of New York for hosting the rally,
Ferrari made a donation to New York Cares, an
organization that runs volunteer projects for 1,300
nonprofits, public schools and city agencies to help
people in need throughout the five boroughs. You can
look at how the event unfolded in the video below.

Maserati Fascinates Us with New Ghibli
Maserati is looking to increase its annual sales to

the Italian company that only delivered a little over 6,200
vehicles last year.
The only way to kick start a sales bonanza is to renew
your current portfolio and enter new segments, and
that's what Maserati has been doing with the next
generation of its Quattroporte flagship and the all-new
Ghibli mid-size sedan that will both try to woo drivers
bored with a sea of BMWs, Mercedes' and Audis on the
roads.

Fiat Reportedly Nearing Deal to Build New Maserati Levante SUV in Italy
First announced as a US-manufactured, Maserati-
badged Jeep Grand Cherokee with a re-skin, the
Levante has never managed to build a picture of itself in
my head. At first, it didn’t seem that interesting and
worth waiting for, sharing all those bits with its Jeep
counterpart and not being a real Maserati in that sense.
But then we got wind of a rumor that it may, in fact, be
built in Italy and share more components with the
sedans, and therefore be less Jeep-like - then the
pictures began to finally emerge.
Since it’s meant as a “Latin blend” of a BMX X6 and
Porsche Cayenne with five usable seats, we can kind-
of see how that could translate into a vehicle, with the
same qualities and family face of the other models in
the range. Now, a new report by Bloomberg reveals
through inside sources that parent-company Fiat is on
the verge of officially announcing plans to make the
Levante in Italy “as part of an investment plan for the
main Mirafiori factory, provided unions agree to
concessions such as extending layoffs.”
These layoffs are temporary, and would affect around
5,300 people who would end up staying home “for
most of the next year after an existing agreement
expires at the end of September.”
It all hinges on the Italian government's decision
whether or not to adopt reform the sector, and make
things easier for automakers in the country. Production
figures are so low, in fact, that other European nations
may overtake the Italians very soon. (Andrei Nedelea)

Ferrari's Massa gets Speeding Ticket on Way to GP
Felipe Massa was driving his Ferrari too fast.
Not on the track, but on the way to it.
Massa was given a $214 speeding ticket by Italian police
this weekend on his way to the Italian Grand Prix race
for exceeding the speed limit in his silver-colored Ferrari
458.
The Gazzetta dello Sport reports that the Brazilian was
also docked six points on his driver's license.
The ticket didn't seem to affect Massa in Sunday's race,
when he finished fourth for one of his best results this
season.
Still, Massa's contract is up at the end of this season and
speculation is swirling that Ferrari won't renew it. (AP)
Octane Icon: Ferrari 288 GTO
The Ferrari Enzo and F40 need no introduction —
they’ve virtually been canonized. There is a Ferrari
supercar, however, that travels under the radar
compared to its two aforementioned (and more
modern) brothers. To the untrained eye, the Ferrari
288 GTO (1984-1985) looks much like Magnum P.I.’s
308 GTS. But the ferocious 288 is so much more than
Robin Master’s permanent loan to the mustachioed
private eye. It was built with purpose, created to feed
Enzo Ferrari’s unquenchable racing passions in Group
B racing, a beautiful, supremely quick beast. It went to
war with the stellar Porsche 959 for the title of
performance titan of the late ’80s. To see one is to
understand the true meaning of “car lust”. The 288
GTO can actually be credited as the father of the
modern Ferrari supercar, and it is quite possibly the
finest prancing horse.

What It’s All About
Understanding the GTO’s name is paramount to
grasping its establishment in the automotive pantheon.
GTO is short for “Gran Turismo Omologato”, Italian for
Grand Touring Homologated. Homologation, derived
from the Greek “homologeo” (which means “to agree
with”), is the racing term for rules on production cars that
justify entry into a racing series. Essentially, this means
that the production car must adhere to specific race
rules on engine displacement, chassis construction,
suspension, and other aspects. These same cars must
also be street legal, and finally, a certain number of cars
must be made available for public sale. Group B racing
in 1984 specified that Ferrari must produce at least 200
cars in order to qualify for homologation.
But just as the 288′s homologation process neared
completion in 1986, tragedy struck. Two Group B
drivers, Henri Toivonen from Finland and Sergio Cresto
from the U.S., perished in their Lancia Delta S4 when
they careened off a cliff during the Tour de Corse rally in
Corsica, France. Consequently, the FIA governing body
banned the Group B supercar series.
The 288 GTO would never lay tire on a Group B
racetrack. 272 cars had been produced; all of them
went to public sale. Though the ignominious timing of
Group B’s demise destroyed any hope that the 288
would become a racing legend, the car had all the
makings of one.
Technical Rundown
The 288 carried forth part of the legendary 1960s 250
GTO’s name, but this time the car housed a 2.8-liter 8-
cylinder engine — hence the 288 marque. The 288
GTO’s styling, too, was derivative: the design theme
first appeared in 1977 on the famous Pininfarina-
designed 308 GTB. The long, flat nose, quad
rectangular driving lights, angular but smooth body,
and deep inset front spoiler made for a distinct exterior
that looked like nothing else on the road. Noticeable
styling cues from the 250 GTO were also carried over
to the 288, including triple vents aft of the rear wheels
and a more pronounced lip spoiler. Higher side mirrors
than the 308, necessary so drivers could see over the
fat rear haunches, also helped the 288 stand out from
its less capable brethren.
To fit under the hood with twin-turbochargers and
intercoolers, the GTO’s engine was mounted
longitudinally (parallel to the length of the car). Hence,
the transmission also had to be moved behind the
engine; the rear wheels and differential were located
behind the engine.
Forbes Friday Market Report September 13th, 2013
For More Information Please Contact Craig Forbes at (678) 802-5000 or [email protected]
Bigger tires for better handling and power delivery
necessitated a wider body and track. The length and
wheelbase of the car were increased and front-to-rear
weight distribution improved upon. The 228′s engine was
mounted lower than 308′s, lowering the car’s center of
gravity and improving handling, and the use of
composite materials in the body and the chassis made
the car impressively light (2,552 pounds). In an
interesting example of how “hand-made” these cars
were, external dimensions weren’t initially released —
they would vary slightly from car to car.
While the 308′s engine was a 3.0 liter V8, the GTO
housed a smaller displacement 2.8 liter (2,855 cc) with
twin IHI intercooled turbochargers that boosted output.
The displacement was limited by the FIA, which
specified that if a Group B car employed turbocharging
the displacement in cubic centimeters must use a
multiplier of 1.4, giving it just under the regulation 4.0
liters at 3,977 ccs. The resultant output was impressive
for the era: a huge 400 horsepower and 366 lb-ft of
torque. 60 MPH arrived in the 4 second range; its 189
MPH top speed made it the first road going car in history
to break the 300 KPH (186 MPH) top speed mark. The
Weber-Marelli electronic injection and ignition system
was based on Ferrari’s F1 car setup and engine power
was mated to a five-speed manual transmission with an
F1-style twin-plate clutch — all managed by a beautiful
gated shifter.
Its Place in History
That the 288 GTO never saw any official track time
surely didn’t affect sales. Each of the 272 cars made
was sold. To put that into perspective, Ferrari made
1,315 F40s. Today, GTOs command upwards of $1
million — and it’s a safe bet that their value will
appreciate over time.
Five of a special racing version, called the 288 GTO
Evoluzione, were also built and boasted up to 650 hp
and a significant drop in weight (around 500 pounds)
from the standard GTO — resulting in a top speed of
225 MPH. The Evoluzione proved a direct link to the
subsequent F40 in both power and aesthetics. So
despite being barred from its intended testing ground,
the 288 GTO brought to the automotive world an
iconic homologation special that led to a superlative
supercar history for Ferrari. (Amos Kwon)

The Ferrari 458 Speciale Launch Video
The only thing better than a 458 is, of course, a lighter,
stronger and more aerodynamically efficient 458.
Toward that end, Ferrari unveiled the 458 Speciale at
Frankfurt, a successor of sorts to the Challenge Stradale
and 430 Scuderia, previous specials that, as good as
they were, wouldn't last a race on the same lap as this
one.
“This is the most powerful V8 Ferrari, never made
before,” said Ferrari chairman Luca de Montezemolo,
who still speaks much better English than we could ever
hope to speak Italian.
How big a leap is the new Speciale? The stock 458
makes “only” 562 hp and gets to 62 mph in 3.4 seconds.
The Speciale, thanks to a 14:1 compression ratio, new
intake geometry, and a higher-lift cam profile, turns out
597 hp and hits 60 in 3 seconds flat. The newly revised
engine is the most powerful naturally aspirated V8
Ferrari has ever made.
The use of lighter materials throughout the car drops
curb weight to 2,844 pounds. Improved Brembo
brakes stop the car from 62 mph in just 101.7 feet.
The Speciale's most interesting feature, though, is its
active aerodynamics. Flaps front and rear open and/or
close as the car passes 93 mph. The flaps alter air
flow to increase aerodynamic efficiency and provide
the necessary down force for different speeds. De
Montezemolo did not say if active aero will find its way
to other Ferraris, but we can assume that it will if it
behaves as promised, which it should.
“We have spent many, many hours in the wind tunnel,”
the chairman said.
Note also the small side flaps along the aft end of the
running boards, something downright Formula Uno-
looking.
No specific pricing or on-sale dates were available at
the time of the press conference, but Italian pricing
was said to be coming very soon. The Speciale will
make its way to our shores, too, but we don't yet know
exactly when. If you need us, we will be at the beach,
waiting. (Mark Vaughn)

NEW INVENTORY
1962 Ferrari 250 GTE “Garage Find”
Many of you have heard of “Barn Finds” or “Garage
Finds”! Well here is one we just located near Emory
University in Atlanta, GA.
1962 Ferrari 250 GTE
From records we believe this car to be a 2-Owner
vehicle that was originally owned by a gentleman in
Kansas. The 2nd Owner of the car purchased it from FAF
in 1994. He had not driven the car in the past 20 years,
but always intended on completing a restoration and just
never got around to it.
The previous owner has two daughters that are now in
their 20’s who were quoted as saying that they had
never seen their Dad’s garage without that car in it. The
car had become a member of their family but the father
understood that it had to go to a new owner.
The car is complete with all of the correct chrome bits
and interior trim, intact. It is a series 2 car with the
later tail lights. Ferrari of Atlanta is making the car a
running and driving automobile that; a true piece of
Ferrari history that will be available for sale as is or
fully restored.

AUTOMOTIVE TECHNOLOGY
Data Acquisition Basics
I'm sure everyone reading this knows about data
systems. We've all seen it in other people's cars, maybe
we have one, and have watched the cool traces on TV in
all the racing series showing a driver's throttle or brake
application and speed. If you are a fan of F1, ALMS,
Grand Am, or one of the other big race series, you've
seen the pit boxes full of computers, monitors, and a
myriad of race engineers.
While much of that may seem out of reach for a club
racer or track day person, it's amazing how much the
basics of the super systems match what we need on a
club level. While the professional systems may record
many more car parameters, they always record the
same basics that club level drivers record. The systems
for club level drivers now start at around $400 - less than
a set of tires!
When I started working with data, I had a very basic
system that ran off a GPS signal. I could record lateral
and longitudinal g-force, speed, and my driven line by
way of GPS. That was enough feedback that I made
significant gains in my braking and turn-in, which
made definite changes in my lap times. At my home
track, I was able to gain 2 seconds on a 1:20 track!
The software allowed me to add a few math channels,
where I was able to do things like combine lateral and
longitudinal g-forces into a Combine G (or G Sum) to
actually quantify some of these things. Even with that,
I was only looking at how fast was I going (speeds at
the end of straights), how hard was I getting on the
brakes (negative longitudinal G Force), and how hard
was I cornering (lateral G Force).
I upgraded from that system to an all-out system that
included all the old stuff, but added steering sensors,
brake pressure, throttle position, RPM, gear position,
individual wheel speeds, shock position, and every
engine-related measurement possible (including
multiple temps, pressures, positions, and more). Then,
in doing math channels (using my old algebra, trig,
and calculus skills), I was able to figure out all sorts of
new things like ride heights, braking aggression, front
and rear roll rates, and many more complicated things.
With all of this data, I started spending much more
time trying to figure it all out. I would look at what I did
driving and then what the car did, trying to picture
everything that was happening. While it's nice to know
what position the steering was in when you came off
the brakes, or when you got to full throttle coming out
of a corner, the basics still apply. Even with 30+
channels of data, I've reverted to starting my analysis
with the essentials.

To have a quick lap, you have to drive fast. That is why
the speed channel is by far the most important. The
speed trace is where the analysis starts and eventually
stops. In general, when you look at your speed trace, it
should rise as you go down the straight and then fall
very quickly when you hit the brakes. It should look like a
cliff, not a rolling hill.
Then, check out your longitudinal G Forces. When you
hit the brakes, it should be just the opposite of the speed
trace. You apply the brakes hard and quickly, with a very
fast rise in longitudinal G Force. After the initial
application, you should smoothly trail off the brakes and
create a nice sloping graph.
Moving to your lateral G graph, in any trail braking
corner you should see some overlap between the
longitudinal G forces and the buildup of lateral G force
as you start to turn in to the corner while trail braking.
This is very easy to see if your software has or can
make a G-G graph. This helps to identify if you are
braking and then turning, or blending the two together to
fill out the traction circle.
These four fundamental things - speed, how you lift off
the gas, how and when you brake, and when you start to
turn - make up the basics that you have to get right
before all the fine details come into play. Having a data
system in the car with you, recording what you're
actually doing will help you immensely. Also, boiling
down all of the data analysis into a couple of small
things make it much easier to do trackside in between
sessions so you can act on it right away.
The final item is to always turn your data system on
and record your data! You will be amazed at the
brilliance you'll display when you're not trying to drive
hard. At one track, my best lap came when I went out
to scrub a set of tires! At another track it was right
before I decided to end a practice session early. You
don't want to miss these sessions because you didn't
turn the system on. Now, get out there and see if you
are nailing the basics. (Matt Romanowski)

Container Storage Cabinets
We’ve always been enthralled with shipping containers.

underground bunkers, or having secret meetings,
something about the durability, functionality and
simplicity of the storage device just feels cool. Made just
released an entire collection of furniture based on
shipping containers. The Container Storage Collection
includes a Side Table (one shelf, perfect for a
nightstand), Small Cabinet (one shelf, looks like a

Barbour Steve McQueen Rexton Jacket
The International Six Days Trial is one of the oldest off
road motorcycle events in the world. It’s been held for
close to a century, and has since been renamed the
International Six Days Enduro. Most commonly, it’s
referred to as the “Olympics of Motorcycling.” Cool
history, but what’s the point? In 1964, when the Iron
Curtain was still up, Steve McQueen rode through
Erfurt, East Germany on a 650 Triumph for the US
Team. He got sideswiped and thrown from his bike
until he smashed his face on a rock and ripped the
skin off his knees. Barbour’s Steve McQueen Rexton
is a distressed 8oz heavyweight wax jacket inspired by
the original A7 that McQueen wore during that race.

An American flag lining, original international label and
ISDT team badge round out the details. Did the original
A7 save McQueen’s life? Probably not. But this jacket
still looks damn good, and it comes with a history lesson.

CG Lock Seat Belt Performance Add-On
■The CG-Lock clamps to the tongue of your daily
driver's existing 3-point, factory installed seat belt.
■Turn your factory seat belt into a performance
driving advantage.
■Attaches to most standard factory installed 3-point
seat belts in minutes.
■Lower your lap or run times or your money back.
The CG-Lock gives you about 80% of the holding
power of a full race harness.
Question: Why do people even use a harness?
Forbes Friday Market Report September 13th, 2013
For More Information Please Contact Craig Forbes at (678) 802-5000 or [email protected]
Answer: So they don't need to "hang on" when driving
hard...they can keep their feet light on the pedals and
their hands light on the wheel for better driving control,
faster reactions, and less fatigue.
Unfortunately, most of us do our auto-crossing in our
daily drivers with standard three-point automotive seat
belts, not racing harnesses. Once the CG-Lock is
installed, you pull up on the shoulder harness of your
seat belt, and the lap belt portion gets "racing harness
tight" and stays as tight as you want until you release it!
Simple, But what a difference it makes.
Improves the performance of the DRIVER, not the car!
Your hips are your body's center of gravity. Tightly held
hips provide the first two of the three benefits of a full
harness as described above. As for the 3rd benefit-
increased safety- the CG-Lock is not sold as a safety
device, but it has been designed and fully tested to not
interfere with a seat belt's safety.
Once installed, pulling up on the shoulder belt tightens
the lap belt portion "racing harness tight" - keeping it as
tight as you want until you release it. The shoulder
harness remains unrestrained as normal for maximum
arm and upper body movement. By providing you with
about 80% of the holding power of a full racing harness,
the CG-Lock (the "CG" stands for "Center of Gravity")
prevents you from sliding in your seat.
The CG-Lock lets you keep your feet and hands light
on the pedals and wheel resulting in better control,
faster reactions, and less fatigue.
Becoming "one with the vehicle" helps you feel the
road and the car's balance, enhancing your driving
abilities. $59.95

Petit Le Mans at Road Atlanta
The Petit Le Mans (French for little Le Mans) is a sports
car endurance race held annually at Road Atlanta in
Braselton, Georgia, USA. It uses the rules established
for the 24 hours of Le Mans by the Automobile Club de
l'Ouest (ACO), which are slightly modified if necessary,
mainly to allow additional cars to compete.
The race was founded by Road Atlanta owner Don
Panoz and first run on October 10, 1998 as part of the
IMSA season. The 1999 edition was one of the original
events of the American Le Mans Series. This year will
mark the 2nd Annual Intercontinental Le Mans Cup,
which connects the races in North America, Europe and
Asia.
The Petit Le Mans covers a maximum of 1,000 miles
(1,600 km) (which is approximately 394 laps) or a
maximum of 10 hours, whichever comes first; only once,
in the rain-stopped 2009 race, has the leading team
failed to complete 1,000 miles (1,600 km).
In addition to the overall race, teams of two or three
drivers per car compete for class victories in four
different classes of cars, two for Le Mans prototypes
and two for grand touring cars. Class winners of this
event receive an automatic invitation to the following
year's 24 Hours of Le Mans.
