From the Principal….. Education Week is a time for everyone in our school – and of you who support our school – to take a moment to acknowledge and celebrate the impact of public education. At Forbes North we are incredibly proud of the teaching and learning opportunities we provide for all our students, and we are constantly seeking to improve the way we do things so that all our kids have opportunities to excel.

Our Kitchen and Garden programs, Link-Up to School Transition program, Choir and Dance, and our Wiradjuri Language and Culture programs are greatly valued by students, staff and families and are also highly regarded by others in the educational community. These programs operate in conjunction with the key learning in literacy, numeracy, the sciences, history, geography, personal development and the creative and performing arts. We are also excited to be exploring ‘futures learning’ with a greater focus on information technology and coding as we equip students for a rapidly changing future.

I do hope that many of you had the opportunity to share in the excitement of learning in our various learning spaces today. If you did not remember, our doors are open and a simple request is all it takes to share the magic!

Steve McAlister Principal

Touch Football On Friday 3rd August the Forbes North boys and girls touch teams played in their knockout touch games in Forbes. The Girls played against Parkes Public who were the stronger team on the days. Our boys played against Middleton. It was a very exciting game with lots of tries scored by both teams. The full time score was 9-9 so the end result was decided by a golden point. The Forbes North boys scored first resulting in them winning the game. The boys will go on to play Bletchington Public school in Orange sometime next week. Stay tuned boys!!

Wiradjuri Choir

The Wiradjuri Choir will have 2 performances this term. Our first one will be on 3rd September at Wiradjuri Dreaming Centre’s NAIDOC starting at 11am. The second performance will be at the Town NAIDOC on 12th September

4/5F Last term we were reading a book called 'Wonder.' It’s about a 10 year old boy August Pullman, all Auggie wants to be is ordinary but ordinary kids don't make other kids run away screaming. Auggie was born with facial impairments and he gets bullied at school. Our assembly item focused on what we can do to accept others, what we could do to be a good friend and how we can make a difference. We designed an Art project showcasing all the things important to us and our school and we used this in our assembly item. Our assembly item was about anti-bullying and kindness inspiring kindness.

'Don't try to blend in when you were born to stand out' From Phoebe Walker and Sophie Nash (4/5F)

The Father’s Day stall will be held on Thursday 30th August in the Link up room. We will have a variety of gifts available for Dad, Grandpa or someone special from $1.00 - $8.00 and gift-wrapping from $1.00. Students will come and shop with their class throughout the day.

Debating Last Thursday, Faith Cowan, Lauren House, Annaliese Green and Tom Greenhill travelled to Nashdale Public School to debate "Primary students should study ore movies and television shows instead of just studying books". We were the affirmative team. The team spoke very well but unfortunately were not able to convince the adjudicator this was the case. We have one debate left in the round against Cowra Public.

5/6H Assembly Item

Due to the Lachlan District Athletics carnival being held on Friday, the 5/6H assembly item will now be presented in week 4 (not week 3) as previously stated.

Students should be at the Forbes North bus shelter by 7:45am Friday, to ensure we arrive in time for the information session. Students will return to school by 4:30pm. A canteen is available on the day and students have been given a list of food available. Parents are welcome to attend and may take their child home at the conclusion of their event, once they have been signed out by a teacher. Good luck to all competitors.

Tea Towel Orders We have received lots of positive feedback about the recent tea towel fundraiser we ran for the FNPS canteen. Every child attending FNPS and staff in term 1, have a hand drawn selfie on there. They look amazing. Please feel free to ask to look at one. We have a small window of opportunity to place another order if any of our families would like to order more for gifts etc. or if they totally missed out and would like to get one now. We have to order at least 50 before we can place one. We would love to hear from everyone interested. Please message Deb on 0478 004403 for all enquires. Deb & Courtney
