CelliantTMStudyResultsStudy,2008EffectsofCelliantonpainandpainreduction.OverviewCelliantTMisaspeciallyformulatedmaterialthatisknit,wovenoraddedtoproductstoenhanceoxygenlevelsinthebody.ProductsenhancedwithCellianthavebeenclinicallyproventorelievepain,increasecomfortandaidinhealingbyincreasingoxygenlevelsandhelpingtoregulatebodytemperature.BelowisasummaryoftheresultsofarecentlycompleteddoubleblindstudydesignedtomeasuretheabilityofCellianttoreducepainandincreasecomfort.StudyBackgroundThestudywasconductedbyDr.IanGordon,M.D.,Ph.D.atUniversityofCaliforniaMedicalCenter.Dr.GordonisDirectoroftheUniversityofCaliforniaWoundClinic,AssociateClinicalProfessorofSurgeryattheUniversityofCalifornia,IrvineandChiefoftheVascularSurgerySectionattheVALongBeachHealthcareSystemaswellasamemberoftheattendingstaffattheUniversityofCaliforniaIrvineMedicalCenter.Thestudywasasinglecenter,prospective,doubleblind,randomizedtrialapprovedbytheinstitutionalreviewboard.Fiftyfive(55)subjectsintotalwereenrolled,26withdiabeticneuropathyand29withothercausesoffootpain;38menand17womenwereenrolled,withanaverageageof59.7years.Tobeincludedinthestudyparticipantshadtobeolderthan21andhavepersistentfootpainforatleastsixmonthspriortothestudy.ThestudyhasbeensubmittedforpublicationtotheJournalofAlternative&ComplimentaryMedicine.ParticipantsinthestudywereaskedtofilloutMcGillShortFormPainSurveysanindustryacceptedscaleformeasuringpainreliefthatisusedinFDAtrialsforpainreliefmedicationsfortwoconsecutiveweekstomeasurepainandqualityoflife.Inquestionsassessingpain,subjectswereinstructedtoanswerquestionsbasedsolelyonsubjectivefootpain.AftercompletingtheWeek2questions,subjectsweregiventhreepairsofsocksinaclosedcontainerandaskedtowearthemexclusivelyforthenexttwoweeks.Oneweek(Week3)andtwoweeks(Week4)latertheyreturnedtoagainfilloutthesamepanelofquestionnaires.ThecontrolgroupreceivedsocksmadefromstandardComfortrelXPpolyesterfiber,whiletheCelliantgroupreceivedsocksinwhichthebottomofthesockwasmodifiedbyhavingCelliantincorporatedintotheyarn.Subjectsandstudypersonnelwereblindedtotherandomization,andstudypersonnelneversawthesocksgiventothesubjects.ResultsAllparticipantsexhibitedsimilarpainscoresuponentryintothestudy.ThechangesbetweenscoresrecordedbeforeandafterwearingsocksshowedimprovementsinboththecontrolandCelliantgroups.Thefactthatthecontrolgroupdemonstratedreductioninpainisconsistentwiththeplaceboeffectoftenseeninstudieslikethisone.However,significantlymorereductioninpainwasobservedintheresponsesfromtheCelliantgroupthancontrols,basedoncomparisonsofthemedianreductioninpainbeforeandafterstartingtreatment.Figures1and2belowshow2.7xgreaterreductioninpainforparticipantswearingproductsenhancedwithCelliantthanthosewearingplaceboproducts.

CelliantTMStudyResultsStudy,2005EffectsofCelliantonoxygenlevelsintheskin.OverviewCelliantTMisaspeciallyformulatedmaterialthatisdesignedtoenhanceoxygenlevelsinthebody.ProductsenhancedwithCellianthavebeenclinicallyproventorelievepain,increasecomfortandaidinhealingbyincreasingoxygenlevelsandhelpingtoregulatebodytemperature.Belowisasummaryoftheresultsofadoubleblindstudycompletedin2005anddesignedtomeasuretheabilityofCellianttoincreaseoxygenlevelsintheskin.StudyBackgroundThestudywasconductedbyGrahamM.McClue,Ph.D.,aresearcherwithHyperbaricTreatment&TrainingServicesLtd.,anindependentresearchfacilityinHouston,Texas.Dr.McCluecomparedproductswithCellianttoplaceboproductsonthehandsandfeetof13healthysubjects.Hemeasuredchangesintranscutaneousoxygen,ameasureofoxygeninthebody,overaperiodofonehour.Thestudywasdoubleblind,meaningthatneithertheparticipantsnorDr.McClueknewwhichproductscontainedCelliantuntilaftermeasurementsweretaken.ResultsThestudysuccessfullyshowedthatpatientswearingproductswithCelliantshowedastatisticallysignificantincreaseintranscutaneousoxygen.Asshowninfiguresbelow,thisincreasewassignificant(10%to24%).AccordingtoDr.McClue,Celliantdoes,infact,increaseoxygenperfusionlevelsby10%to24%inahealthynoncompromisedpopulation.Withregardtothebenefitsoftheproduct,Dr.McCluegoesontostatethatIncreasedoxygenprofusionhasbeenshowntoaidintheincreaseofenergy.Energyproducedatthecellularlevelwillacceleratemuscletissuerecoveryfromexercise,whichisknowntoinducelacticacidincreases,rebuildstrengthinmusclesdamagedbyexercise,andalsoreducetheincidenceofcramping,edema,andmusclefatiguepoststrenuousexerciseinathleticconditioning.
