"Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life. It turns what we have into
enough, and more. It turns denial into acceptance, chaos to order,
confusion to clarity. It can turn a meal into a feast, a house into a
home, a stranger into a friend. Gratitude makes sense of our past,
brings peace for today, and creates a vision for tomorrow."

A Message from your President
Hello to all members and friends! Hope everyone had an enjoyable summer and we can appreciate a
nice fall, although, it does seem like it’s time to clean the clubs and motorcycles and prepare for the
upcoming short days. We would like to wish members and our friends from the Lions club safe travels
south. See you in April.
All our winter sports are well under way; darts on Wednesdays, pool on Mondays and Thursdays, and
curling on Sundays. There are still vacancies in all the sports, drop in and check them out. We will be
hosting Provincial pool 17 to 19 October 2014, and Provincial curling 27 February 2015. We also have a
young group of men that have a gamer night on Thursdays. All of these activities attract many
members and potential members. Congratulations to all the golfers that participated in the Fall Classic
golf tournament. It was cold but we did not get wet!
Friday night suppers are still well attended. However, the cooking crews are wearing a little thin. If
anyone would like to test their culinary skills on a Friday night speak with Peggy Kennedy. I am sure
she can set you up with a date to cook.
We are intending on having one major event every month. Our latest event was Membership
Appreciation night 20 September. The meal was prime rib and it was awesome. I would like to
congratulate all of the members that received their year pins 5,10,15,20 25 and 30 year pins. We also
had donations to SAIF (stop abuse in families St Albert), Cross cancer clinic, WIN house and YESS
(youth empowerment and support service). All had a great time and the dancing carried on till late
hours.
We also had the opportunity to present the Eagle of the year award. This award is given to a member
that has donated numerous hours volunteering, attending meetings, signing up new members. The
recipient this year was Leeanne Booth. Well deserved! She met all the above criteria and was
responsible for setting up our web site and is the editor and publisher of this newsletter.
Membership is still growing and we have many in the wings to initiate. Just a reminder your dues are
coming at the end of December. Dues are $50.00 and $45.00 if you pay early, they can be paid at the
bar.
On the Provincial note we have 2 members attending a Grand Aerie training seminar in Lethbridge 10
& 11 October.
Goals are like stars: they may not be reached, but they can always be a guide
