even broken pipes in your home you

can know what to do if you are ever

faced with this situation.

1. Your priority is your family’s

and pet’s protection. Keep small

children and your pets away from

the affected area. Wear rubber

boots or waiters and rubber

gloves to stay clean.

2. Remove the flood water in

your home as soon as

possible to keep it from

doing more damage in your

home. Open all the doors

and windows.

3. The fastest and easiest

way to remove the water

is to pump it out of the

home. Mop up all the

remaining water.

4. Use fans to dry up the water

fast. Face the fans toward a door

or window to help clear out the

moisture from the air and

potential mold spores. Also a

dehumidifier will help remove

moisture.

5. Throw away all items that cannot

be cleaned. Such as carpets, carpet

padding, upholstered furniture, most

wood, ceiling tiles, books, toys,

pillows, blankets, cosmetics, wall

coverings and paper products.

6. Clean and disinfect everything

from walls, counter tops,

moldings, appliances and other

home fixtures with a mild

detergent and hot water.
