2019 MISSISSIPPI COASTAL CLEANUP ANNUAL REPORT Volunteers Debris Trained Site Captains The Mississippi Coastal Cleanup Program has been promoting environmental literacy and reducing marine debris impacts for 26 years. With support from numerous sponsors, the program provides coastal residents with opportunities to become active stewards of their natural surroundings. Marine debris is an issue that impairs the environment, stormwater infrastructure, tourism and industry along coastlines. Program leaders organize and implement cleanup events throughout the year and take their marine debris awareness programs to a variety of local schools, libraries, festivals and other events. This annual report summarizes the program’s 2019 accomplishments.
