2. Introduction

In compliance with the FLaReNet Annex I, D1.2 – Project Web Site2 was published on 1st December 2008.

On 7th December 2008, a section dedicated to the FLaReNet Web site started to be operative in the Web

Statistic System of the Istituto di Linguistica Computazionale del CNR (which hosts the FLaReNet Web site in

one of its Web servers).

In this report the statistics relating to some performances of the FLaReNet Web site are reported and

analysed, in particular focusing on the results achieved in the last year of the project Web site lifetime and

comparing them with the outcomes of the two previous reporting periods.

The Beta Version 1.0 of the LRE Map of Language Resources and Tools has been publicly available3 since

August 2010.

The statistics relating to the performances of this first version of the LRE Map in terms of hits with a

successful status code from the 2nd to the 13th month of its lifetime are reported at the end of this report.

3. Total Hit Counts for Web Pages / Web Site

3.1. Hit Counts in the 3rd Reporting Period

From 1st September 2010 to 31st August 2011 (365 days), the total hit counts for Web pages / Web site

were 1.979.531, with a peak of 463.187 in May 2011, coinciding with the FLaReNet Forum 2011, and with

an average number of hits per month of 164.961.

Comparing the results reached in the 3rd reporting period with the ones relating to the 2nd year of the

project Web site lifetime (see Chart 2), we note an increase of 151,84% in the total hit counts for Web

pages / Web site and in the average number of hits per month.

Comparing the last 9 months of the 3rd reporting period (in which the total hit counts for Web pages / Web

site were 1.730.666, with an average number of hits per month of 144.222) with the first 9 months of the

project Web site lifetime (see Chart 3), we note an increase of 359,68% in the total hit counts for Web

pages / Web site and an increase of 269,76% in the average number of hits per month.

411.795 in February 2010, coinciding

with the FLaReNet Forum 2010, and

with an average number of hits per

Comparing the last 9 months of the

site were 1.099.985, with an average

number of hits per month of 91.665)

with the first 9 months of the project

Web site lifetime (see Chart 3), we

noted an increase of 228,61% in the

total hit counts for Web pages / Web

site and an increase of 171,45% in

the average number of hits per

month.

4. Origin of Visits

4.1. Origin of Visits in the 3rd Reporting Period

In the 3rd year of the project Web site lifetime, 57,94% of the visits were effected by visitors defined as

"international" in the domain options and 0,92% of the visits were effected from the country of the Web

host (Italy), while the percentage of visitors from an origin that could not be determined was equal to

41,13%.

Comparing the results reached in the 3rd reporting period with the ones relating to the 2nd year of the

project Web site lifetime (see Chart 6), we note a decrease of 22,37% in the percentage of international

visits, an increase of 0,36% in the percentage of visits from Italy and an increase of 22,01% in the

percentage of visits of unknown origin.

Comparing the results reached in the last 9 months of the 3rd reporting period with the ones relating to the

last 9 months of the 2nd year of the project Web site lifetime (see Chart 7), we note a decrease of 25,40% in

the percentage of international visits, an increase of 0,57% in the percentage of visits from Italy and an

increase of 24,82% in the percentage of visits of unknown origin.

Comparing the results reached in the 3rd reporting period with the ones relating to the first 9 months of the

project Web site lifetime (see Chart 8), we note a decrease of 17,89% in the percentage of international

visits, a decrease of 0,29% in the percentage of visits from Italy and an increase of 18,18% in the percentage

of visits of unknown origin.

Comparing the results reached in the last 9 months of the 3rd reporting period with the ones relating to the

first 9 months of the project Web site lifetime (see Chart 8), we note a decrease of 21,99% in the

percentage of international visits, a decrease of 0,16% in the percentage of visits from Italy and an increase

of 22,14% in the percentage of visits of unknown origin.

In the 2nd

year of the project Web site lifetime, a bit

more than 4/5 of the visits were international, while a

bit more less 1/5 of them were mainly of unknown

origin and minimally from Italy.

Comparing the results reached in the 2nd

reporting

period with the ones relating to the first 9 months of

the project Web site lifetime (see Chart 8), we noted

an increase of 4,48% in the percentage of

international visits, a decrease of 3,83% in the

percentage of visits of unknown origin and a decrease

of 0,65% in the percentage of visits from Italy.

In the last 9 months of the 2nd

international, while a bit more than 1/5 of them were

mainly of unknown origin and minimally from Italy.

Comparing the results reached in the last 9 months of

the 2nd

reporting period with the ones relating to the

first 9 months of the project Web site lifetime (see

Chart 8), we noted an increase of 3,41% in the

percentage of international visits, a decrease of 2,68%

in the percentage of visits of unknown origin and a

decrease of 0,73% in the percentage of visits from

Italy.

5. Total Downloads

5.1. Downloads in the 3rd Reporting Period

In the 3rd year of the project Web site lifetime, the total number of downloads was equal to 16.451, with a

peak of 8.824 in March 2011, following the promotion of D8.2b – Blueprint of Actions and Infrastructures

through the project mailing lists.

In the 3rd year of the project Web site lifetime, the top downloaded file was D8.2b – Blueprint of Actions

and Infrastructures, which was downloaded 8.124 times (of which 7.863 in March 2011), equal to 49,38% of

the total number of downloads of all the reporting period.

15,68% of the downloads of the 3rd reporting period concerns the FLaReNet Forum 2010 Proceedings

(downloaded 2.580 times), while 4,36% of them regards the FLaReNet Forum 2009 Proceedings, Extended

Report and Short Report considered as a whole (downloaded 588, 112 and 17 times, respectively).

year of the project Web site lifetime, the top

downloaded files were the various versions of the

LREC 2010 Acquisition Workshop Call for Papers, which

were downloaded 13.101 times (of which 12.415 in

January 2010), equal to 70,21% of the total number of

downloads of all the reporting period.
