F&L ASIA

Cathryn WilliamsManaging DirectorBridge Communications

We have followed F&L Asia since it launched its first publication. When Chevron decided to add base oil production capacity in Asia, F&L Asia became our go-to source for reaching the market. Their editorial focus lines up well with the interests of Chevron’s customers in the region. Plus, their increasing emphasis on features that include global trends adds to their effectiveness for advertisers.

F&L ASIA is your B2B multimedia partner in Asia-Pacific. Our vision is to provide critical and timely information to meet the needs of the fuels and lubricants industry in Asia. Every year, through our conferences—our first was held in Singapore in 1995—we gather industry stakeholders in Asia to discuss regional and global issues and trends affecting our industry. By providing a forum for identifying emerging issues, promoting consensus, sharing of best practices, building networks and connecting businesses, F&L ASIA has played a unique role in the fuels and lubricants industry over the years. We have developed partnerships with other organizations such as the Society of Tribologists and Lubrication Engineers (STLE), ASTM International and the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) to bring their education courses to Asia, and in the case of SAE, to support the activity of its Steering Committee for Asia. For more information, visit us at www.fuelsandlubes.com.

There is a tremendous amount of new development on the business, technology and regulatory fronts in the fuels and lubes industry. This is especially true in the very dynamic markets of Asia Pacific. Staying on top of these news is challenging but critical to formulating strategy that help us successfully compete in the market. Oiltrends provides an excellent and regular summary of important news that take place in the fuels and lubes industry in Asia Pacific. I very much appreciate and enjoy the information I get monthly from Oiltrends.

F+L ASIA CONFERENCESF+L Week is the convergence of two of Asia’s premier industry events: the Annual Fuels & Lubes Asia Conference and the Asia-Pacific Base Oil Conference. Co-located in Singapore, F+L Week allows for maximum networking not only among participants during the week, but also for individual company visits in Asia’s oil refining and trading center in between the two events. The 5th Asia-Pacific Base Oil Conference features an informal offsite sit-down dinner on Monday night, while the 17th Annual Fuels & Lubes Asia Conference features a two-hour open bar and extensive cocktail menu during the Welcoming Cocktail on Wednesday night. In either case, the excellent technical program during all four days will provide participants a good understanding of what lies ahead for their business in economic and technical terms. Our affordable conference registration fees, which are 20-30% lower than similar two-day events organized by others but without the networking benefits we offer, makes broader participation possible, from mid-level to top level company personnel.

I am attending the Fuels & Lubes Asia Conferences now for nearly 10 years. They always provide an excellent opportunity for networking. I meet a lot of old friends and colleagues and also make a lot of new and valuable contacts. For us as a really global company with strong activities and commitment in the Asia Pacific region “Fuels & Lubes Asia” is one of the most important conferences. We benefit from the quality papers and presentations as well as from the networking.

Dr. Michael MuellerGlobal Business Segment Manager Crankcase and DrivelineRohMax Oil Additives

The recent F&L Asia Conference was a success in terms of the participation, organization and value of papers presented. A stronger view of F&L Asia has emerged being the leading conference in Asia for the F&L industry to use as a platform to highlight the technology, market drivers and upcoming legislation affecting this side of the world. As an important conference, it is to remain relevant to the industry for years to come.

Sarbhjeet SinghRegional Business Manager–DrivelineLubrizol Southeast Asia (Pte) Ltd

What’s the difference between this base oil conference and others? Truly Asian in nature, but global in context. Carefully selected topics and speakers. Topical and issues oriented. Conceived, designed and prepared to be a real learning experience. Great networking experience. Cost-effective sponsorship packages.

The program of the 4th Asia-Pacific Base Oil Conference was very well balanced. Speakers from different disciplines gave their specialist view on developments in their field of expertise. This allowed attendants of the conference to form a broad perspective on major developments in the world economy, different commodity markets and triggers that can potentially influence the direction of base oil prices. The conference helped me very much to gain a deeper understanding of the base oil market. The setting was excellent and I thoroughly enjoyed meeting many new people from the industry in a very pleasant and informal setting.

Rob Van WechemAdvisor, Base Oil Market

The 4th Asia Pacific Base Oil Conference was different from anything of the sort I had ever attended. The content was well conceived of and nothing short of phenomenal. All in all, this conference also presented an incredible amount of network opportunities. The atmosphere was very conducive for overseas and local delegates to interact and network with each other.Susie OngAccount Manager (Chemicals)Vopak Terminals Singapore Pte Ltd

What is the difference between the Asia-Pacific Base Oil Conference and the Annual Fuels & Lubes Asia Conference? The Asia-Pacific Base Oil Conference is more narrowly focused than the Annual Fuels

& Lubes Asia Conference in that it covers only lubricating base oils and fully formulated lubricat-ing oils, waxes and greases. Further, it has a more commer-cial touch. On the other hand, the Annual Fuels & Lubes Asia Conference covers transporta-tion fuels, as well as automotive and industrial lubricants and pe-troleum additives. It is also more technical in nature than the Asia-Pacific Base Oil Conference.

Our company would like to present a paper about our new product. Can we present such a commercial paper?Yes, but only in the commercial session.

What is your paper review process? The abstracts that are submit-ted to us are reviewed by our conference advisory board, who then recommend which papers can be accepted for oral pre-sentation. The full presentation

is then reviewed by our editorial department, who may forward individual papers to an advisory board member for further re-view. In a few cases, the author may be requested to revise his or her paper before publication.

If my paper is accepted for oral presentation, do I have a choice of not making my presentation available in the conference proceedings?Yes. Each author is required to sign a copyright disclaimer. Should the author prefer not to sign the disclaimer, we will not include his or her paper in the conference proceedings.

Do you have an exhibition at the conference?Yes. One of the benefits of our corporate sponsorships is a tabletop exhibit.

Do you allow hospitality suites at the conference?Yes we do, but their operating hours should not coincide with the technical program.

Do you have special group rates?Yes. We do offer discounts based on the regular registration fee to groups. Our group discounts are 5% for two to five persons

from the same company; 7% for six to nine persons from the same company, and; 10% for 10 persons and above. A single wire-transfer payment must be made to avail of the group discount.

How does your early-bird discount work?Payment must be received within the early-bird period, which ends on December 29, 2010 for the discount to apply.

If I am attending the conference either as a speaker or as a participant, can my spouse join the social activities?Yes, your spouse is most welcome to join our social activities in the evening. For spouses, we offer a special rate of US$100 per social activity.

Can we avail of the special hotel room rate even if we are not attending the conference? No. The special hotel room rate is specially for conference par-ticipants and speakers only.
