Just don't mention the Dinosaur...

.how and why did you start the band?joe- 'Cause I want to play music, its fun!!paul- I had been looking to start a band for ages, at the time I was sharing a flat with Joe (bassist) and another few guys. I knew Joe from a National Diploma Music course we both did and we had talked about sorting out a jam. So we started looking for a drummer, I remembered Paul Palliser (Alfie/drums) from my old secondary school, I knew he was young but a damn good drummer. We got in contact with him and the 3 of us jammed and thrashed out a few good tunes and decided to start looking for a singer. At first I thought we would never find a worthy vocalist, as GOOD singers are extremely hard to find. Then a friend of mine told me of a girl he knew that was a really good singer and wanted to start a band. I didn't think much at first, met up with her and gave her a few instrumental demos to write to, within that week we had written our first two songs, 'Turn Around' and 'Stand Up' both on our debut EP, the rest is history!

jilly- I had been off the singers circuit for quite some time after some confidence busting experiences through the likes of the 'X-Factor' and 'I'd Do Anything'... (Strange I know, but i thought I should try everything *laughs*!!) until being featured as a writer in 'The Japanese Popstars' debut album 'We Just Are', I co wrote and also performed the title track. It got featured on Pete Tongs show a number of times and got some great reviews.

After that I started to guest appear in some acoustic slots around the town. It was after both of those experiences that I started to believe that I could do it and do it in my own way too. I was then put in touch with the boys through a mutual friend and we had 3 tracks written within the week! It's been quite mad how it has all just fallen into place so quickly!what's been your craziest moment in the band?

NAME: Hello, I'm EmilyAGE: 16.ABOUT ME: The name Emily means to rival, which I find oddly ironic because I'm a twin. I wonder if my mum had any knowledge of this when she named me. I find it even more ironic that Katie (the name of my twin) means pure and virginal. Lol!

joe- Signin loadsa shit outside The Academy in Dublin was crazy. alf- Playin Dublin Academy with My Passion. paul- Probably playing The Academy in Dublin, opening up for My Passion. Proper stadium band in an amazing first class venue! We had our own private balcony and a red carpet!, admittedly though that was probably for My Passion! *laughs* the people in Dublin our soooo nice! jilly- I think The Academy in Dublin too. The kids there were amazeballs!!

J

They had a mosh pit and everything going for us! I also had to draw a t-shirt on a guy that day cause he had his shirt ripped off and then he asked me to sign AROUND his nipple! best song joe- There Is, by BoxCarRacer. paul- Is This Love by White Snake. alfie- Televators, The Mars Volta. jilly- Aww so many... I'll go with Hounds Of Love, Kate Bush.best gig you've attended joe- Foo Fighters, Dublin. Epic! paul- Jimmy Eat World in Belfast. They came out to talk to us and everything, I was a bit

starstruck and therefore a wee bit embarrassing. Jus kept telling them how much I loved them! alfie- James Brown, London when he supported The Red Hot Chilli Peppers. jilly- Metallica, Point Theatre, Dublin without a doubt! I got into the snake pit and I was a convert and couldn't move for a week after all the moshin'!! REMEMBER TO MAKE YOUR VOTE COUNT FOR NMChttp://redbullbedroomjam.com/band/videos/gettin

The main thing to get about Snow Patrol is that, 14 years after they started out as a student band at Dundee University, they're still flying, gloriously and unpredictably, by the seat of their pants. "The great and terrifying thing about our band," declares their leader and main songwriter Gary Lightbody, "Is that everything has always happened as it's going along. There's been very little masterplan. Tickets from usual ticketmaster outlets.
