Future Considerations
• DOECAP Audits:
– New laboratories/TSDFs are being considered
– If new facilities are added to the audit list, these steps will be crucial to our continued success: Auditor support from the field Prioritization of the TSDFs and laboratories by
performance to identify the top performers For the off-year audit, reward the top performers
with either a desk audit or minimized audit scope (fewer auditors needed)
28
Closing Thoughts
• DOECAP Audits:– Ensure consistent, defensible evidence is provided to
support findings and observations
– Strive for consistency in how the audit reports are written
– Improve completion of the audit checklists – Be thorough; it’s the record of your review for the next auditor
– Think DOE Complex-wide when you represent the Department – Think more broadly than your home site
– Review the corrective action plans carefully – Audits are a cooperative process (not a “gotcha”), but we must ensure facilities address the extent of condition and identify the root cause
