HOPEFUL EXPECTATION Our liturgical year begins with the season of Advent - a time of hopeful expectation of the coming of the Lord. THIS WEEK AT ST JOSEPH THE WORKER

Wednesday Evening Holy Hour, Confessions and Rosary Prayer Group

Every Wednesday evening, we have Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament from 6:00 – 7:00pm with Confessions

available from 6:00 – 6:45pm. The Rosary & Devotion Prayer Group meets at 7:00pm

following the Holy Hour. – All are welcome.

Before I entered the seminary in 2003, as a parishioner I use to financially support my parish church, St. Clement in Hayward with an average of $50.00 per week. And now as a priest, I earn less money than before but I pres-ently support St. Joseph the Worker with $50.00 per week from my own monthly priest wage. I honestly believe 5% of our personal weekly wage is a reasonable weekly “sacrifice” when it comes to offering God our gratitude, supporting and maintaining our house of worship (“God’s House”) and in helping us better serve our parishioners and those seeking God’s help through our church. Won’t you please join me? Our weekly goal in order to properly operate and to continue improving our par ish is $8,875 per week – Your support is very important and necessary for us to continue moving forward. “When you give, give generously and not with a stingy heart; for that, the LORD, your God, will bless you in all your works and undertakings.” Deuteronomy 15:10 Last Sunday on November 20th, we received approximately 26.75 % of our weekly goal: 5:00pm Special Vigil Mass: $554.10 8:00am Mass: $841.95 9:30am Mass: $560.00 11:00am Spanish Mass: $420.78 --------------------------------- Total: $2,376.83 Your spiritual and financial support makes a huge difference. Thank you. Peace of Christ, Fr. Kenneth Nobrega

© Copyright, J. S. Paluch Co.

BE PREPARED Be prepared. It’s that simple. As this Advent season opens before us, the Lord Jesus summons us to stand ready for his coming. At this time of year much of our attention is focused on being prepared for the details that accompany the holi-day season. We purchase gifts; we decorate our homes, inside and out; we prepare foods that we eat only during the holidays; we write and send Christmas cards; we attend holiday concerts; we prepare either to welcome family and friends into our homes or arrange for visits to their homes. We really can’t escape the details that make up the season. Perhaps this Advent is a time to attend to all those details with a different spin. As we pre-pare to celebrate the feast of Christmas, why not be deliberate about acknowledging the presence of the Lord as we go about these tasks? The Lord of-ten comes to us in wonderfully surprising ways. Let us be prepared. Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co., Inc.

ESTAR PREPARADO

Debes estar preparado. Estemos preparados. Copyright © J. S.
