FROM THE SCHOOL

OLL School is in need of a long term substitute teacher to complete the school year

when our 7th grade homeroom teacher goes out on maternity leave. This position is scheduled to go from mid-February to June 8th. This position is responsible for teach-ing 7th grade Religion and 6th, 7th, & 8th grade English classes. Previous teaching ex-perience is required. Please contact Mrs. Kraft to learn more about the position and to set up an interview.

TOURS Our Lady of Loretto School is now schedul-ing tours for the 2018-2019 school year. On your tour you will be able to see what the day in the life of an OLL student is all about. Marin Handicapables Mass and Luncheon Persons with special needs (shut-ins, develop-mentally disabled, etc.) who would enjoy fellow-ship are cordially invited to the Marin Handi-capables Mass and Luncheon on December 9, 2017. CHRISTMAS OUTREACH 2017

The Our Lady of Loretto, Helping Hands Christ-mas Outreach 2017 is underway! Again this year we have committed to help families in need celebrate the birth of Christ. It’s easy to be part of this compassionate outreach. Our Giving Trees are up in all the entrances to the Church. Please take an envelope and return it to the secure mail slot at the Rectory, along with your gift of store gift cards, cash or check payable to Our Lady of Loretto Helping Hands Christmas Outreach. Please indicate the amount of your donation clearly on the outside of the gift card. Gift cards from gro-cery stores and stores such as Target, Kohl’s and Old Navy are much appreciated.

Our deadline for donations is Monday December 11, 2017.

For your convenience, Helping Hands volunteers will be at the church entrances after each Mass this weekend to accept your donations. Thank you for helping us to share the true spirit of Christmas with those in need. We wish you a blessed Advent and Christmas.

DIOS TIENE OTRO PLAN

Comenzamos el tiempo de Adviento con un llamado sincero al ar-repentimiento. Recordamos el

amor fiel que Dios siente por nosotros y le pedimos que nos ayude a emprender el camino de regreso: "estabas airado porque nosotros pecábamos" (Isaías 64:4). En la primera lectura y en el salmo, recordamos las promesas de Dios y lamentamos nues-tra rebeldía y nuestra culpa. Invocamos el poder de Dios para salvarnos. Con Isaías, le decimos a Dios: "Ojalá rasgaras los cie-los y bajaras, estremeciendo las montañas con tu presencia" (Isaías 63:19). Sí, Dios nos es fiel, porque somos hechura de las manos de Dios. Dios es el alfarero, nosotros el barro. Y sin embargo, nuestro concepto de cómo Dios vendrá a salvarnos se origina en nuestra expectativa de un Di-os guerrero que estremece las montañas y llega a nuestra vida con ruido y gloria. Pero Dios tiene otro plan: la Encarnación.

LECTURAS DE HOY Primera lectura -- Isaías ruega por el retorno del Señor (Isaías 63:16-17, 19; 64:2-7). Salmo -- Señor, Dios nuestro, restáuranos que brille tu rostro y nos salve (Salmo 80 [79]). Segunda lectura -- Pablo está agradecido por las ben-diciones que los corintios han recibido debido a su fe en Jesús (1 Corintios 1:3-9). Evangelio -- Jesús dice a los discípulos que estén siem-pre alertas a la llegada del tiem-po designado

TRADICIONES DE NUESTRA FE El significado de la palabra "¡Adviento!" es muy interesante. Viene del latín y quiere decir "Allí viene" o "Ya está llegando". Pero, ¿de

quién hablamos cuando proclamamos "adviento"? ¿Del Rey de la Gloria?, ¿del Príncipe de la Paz?, ¿del Hijo del Dios Altísimo?, ¿del Salvador de Israel? Sí, sí, sí y otra vez, sí, pero más todavía del Hijo del Hombre, del niñito de María. Allí viene y ya está llegando. Tenemos que estar prepar-ados. Pero ¿cómo prepararnos para la llegada de un rey que es pobre?, ¿de un príncipe que nació entre una mula y un buey? ¿de un niñito que ya es todo un hom-bre y además es Dios? He allí el dilema del Adviento cristiano. Es un llamado a vivir la paradoja de un tiempo que está a medias, donde el Reino de los Cielos ya existe pero no en su plenitud. Es un llamado a buscar en el templo, en el mall, en el barrio, en el hogar y en el propio corazón, para ver si "allí viene" el dueño de la casa. Es un llamado a estar atentos y vigilantes.
