For goodness sakes, New Years Day is only a week after Christmas. If you are like me, we usually are facing a bunch of tasks on our to-do-list that are left over from the previous year. Things like taking down the Christmas tree and puing away all the decorations. Then there is writing thank-you notes and decisions about what to do with the stack of Christmas cards. Do we throw them away or save the ones with pictures? Then there is also trying to catch up with all the work that I put off during the holidays. If youre like me, Im behind before the New Year even starts. I recently read this quote, No one can go back and start a new beginning, but anyone can start today and make a new ending(Author unknown). Makes you stop and think. What if we dont start over; but we began again right where we are, making things beer in our lives. What if we use this New Year to set a goal of having a deeper commitment, a deeper love, and deeper passionate worship for Jesus. Will we make 2019 a year where we are determined to make Him our all in all? God wants our undivided aention in spite of all the distractions and temptations that lie waiting around the next corner. God has to be our main focus. As 2018 is nearing an end, how it ends will determine how we start the new year. Do we want to get more intimatewith the one who loves our soul? When you look up the word intimacy, the meaning is to be close, familiar, very personal and private. If you are feeling stagnate in your relationship with Christ, then now is the time to rekindle the love affair with Him. Jesus calls us to Himself. God demonstrates His love for us in that while we were still sinners. Christ died for us. This life is not about what we can do for God, but what He can do in and through us. God does not need us (see Acts 17:25), but He still desires to use imperfect instruments like us to accomplish His God-sized purposes. As we enter the new year (2019), the question we need to be asking is what can I do for God? The beer question is this: What does God desire to accomplish in and through me this year? May we order our lives to bring Honor and Glory to God. Happy New Year 2019 TFUMC. May 2019 be a year of a deeper connection with Jesus Christ for our church family. Pastor Jeff

2019 – Desiring a Deeper Connection with Jesus

“See, I am sending an angel ahead of you to guard you along the way and to bring you to the place I have

prepared.” Exodus 23:20 (NIV) Is it just me or do you also think that New Year’s Day comes at the wrong time of the year? For goodness

sakes, New Year’s Day is only a week after Christmas. If you are like me, we usually are facing a bunch of

tasks on our to-do-list that are left over from the previous year. Things like taking down the Christmas tree

and putting away all the decorations. Then there is writing thank-you notes and decisions about what to do

with the stack of Christmas cards. Do we throw them away or save the ones with pictures? Then there is also

trying to catch up with all the work that I put off during the holidays. If you’re like me, I’m behind before the

New Year even starts.

I recently read this quote, “No one can go back and start a new beginning, but anyone can start today and

make a new ending” (Author unknown). Makes you stop and think. What if we don’t start over; but we began

again right where we are, making things better in our lives. What if we use this New Year to set a goal of

having a deeper commitment, a deeper love, and deeper passionate worship for Jesus. Will we make 2019 a

year where we are determined to make Him our all in all? God wants our undivided attention in spite of all

the distractions and temptations that lie waiting around the next corner. God has to be our main focus.

As 2018 is nearing an end, how it ends will determine how we start the new year. Do we want to get more

“intimate” with the one who loves our soul? When you look up the word intimacy, the meaning is to be

close, familiar, very personal and private. If you are feeling stagnate in your relationship with Christ, then

now is the time to rekindle the love affair with Him. Jesus calls us to Himself. God demonstrates His love for

us in that while we were still sinners. Christ died for us. This life is not about what we can do for God, but

what He can do in and through us. God does not need us (see Acts 17:25), but He still desires to use

imperfect instruments like us to accomplish His God-sized purposes. As we enter the new year (2019), the

question we need to be asking is what can I do for God? The better question is this: What does God desire to

accomplish in and through me this year? May we order our lives to bring Honor and Glory to God. Happy

New Year 2019 TFUMC. May 2019 be a year of a deeper connection with Jesus Christ for our church family.

I Can Only Imagine Bible Study

Beginning Wednesday January 9th, at our Wednesday

evening Bible Studies – “I Can Only Imagine” (a month-

long study on Approval, Forgiveness, Redemption, and

Eternal Life). This study is based off the popular

Christian song and recent movie by Mercy Me entitled –

“I Can Only Imagine.” At the end of our study time, we

will set a time to watch the movie together and share reflections on both our study time as well as

what we observed in the movie. Clips from the movie are used within our Bible Study time

together to drive home a point of emphasis. Come Join Us – Better Yet – (Invite / Bring a Friend).

Let us commit to diving deeper in our study time with God in 2019. Blessings Pastor Jeff

P.E.G.S. Workshop

Discovering Your Passion - Driven, Spirit – Gifted Call to Ministry

P.E.G.S. stands for Passions & Personalities, Experiences, Gifting and Service

“God has gifted and shaped your lives in unique and wonderful ways so that you can experience

the joy of helping the Kingdom of God to come ‘on earth as it is in heaven.’” P.E.G.S. ~ Gifted for

Ministry

WHO IS INVITED?

Your pastoral & ministry staff, and leadership team.

All leadership members are encouraged to attend and anyone interested in finding your Passion

(Gifts) and how you can use them in ministry at First UMC Troutman.

Imagine how our congregations would view ministry if we simply began to see how our language

of volunteerism implies filling predetermined spots in the church versus helping them see they

are ministers. Imagine how our communities would be impacted if your congregation began

embracing their identity and role as part of the priesthood of all believers.

WHEN? - Sunday, January 13th – 1:00 to 4:00 PM

(Immediately following Administrative Council Meeting – Lunch will be provided).

INTENDED PURPOSE?

To help our congregations connect with their passions for people and their gifts for making a difference in the community and the world. This resource has been proven and effective in helping congregations find their sweet spot for ministry and moves them from volunteering to connecting to whom God is calling them in the world.

P.E.G.S. is an inventory assessment that helps:

connect people with people, through their passions and personalities

your congregations see how their life has equipped and prepared them to relationally connect

with others on an authentic level

see how their spiritual gifting is equipping them for ministry

empower and prepare people for service
