A Bedford-based health care company is still saving lives and celebrating 30 years in business
Bostock Health care, set up by Jean Brown, a former cardiac nurse, and now run by her daughter Joanna O’Donovan run courses for international giants as well as small local companies.
Flexibility is the key with Bostock staging training at client premises and locations in Bedford, Milton Keynes, Luton and Hitchin.
More than 3,000 people are trained each year and the company also supplies a whole range of first aid medical supplies.
Bostock moved into its current premises at 63 Garfield Street, Bedford in 1994 and courses offered include first aid at work, emergency first aid at work, paediatric first aid and all updates. Individuals, parents and families are welcome on these.
Jean, a former cardiac sister at Harefield and the Brompton Chest Hospital, said: “there are legal requirements for companies to have first aid training in place. We try to make it easy for them by reminding them when it is due and who needs to update their skills.
This level of service has kept customers coming back and remaining loyal to us for three decades.”
“We do believe that everyone should be first aid trained as you never know when that skill could save someone’s life.”
“The latest public safety development is the positioning of defibrillators in key places.”Jo added: “you only have minutes to save someone’s life if they collapse with a heart attack and if basic
first aid doesn’t do it then the defib may make the difference. We supply the technology and the training for companies.”
Jo has helped to set up the First Aid Industry Body who oversee the standards of first aid nationwide.
