VI. Frequently Asked Questions

1.  What is the sentiment score?

FinSentS uses Sentiment Analysis routines to compute Sentiment scores. Sentiment analysis (also

known as opinion mining) refers to the use of natural language processing, text analysis and

computational linguistics to identify and extract subjective information in source materials.

In layman terms our scores rate the “feelings” on a particular topic or entity (see also 7. Supported

Asset class below).

They range from 0 to 10:

  0 means no information available,

 Negative [1-2-3],   Neutral [4-5-6],

  Positive [7-8-9-10].

Sentiment score ranging from 1 to 100 (or with decimals) are available on demand.

2.  How do you calculate the sentiment score?

The daily scores represent weighted averages of individual scores for each news article/ blogs /

twitter … processed during the day. We can provide details of our computation if required.

Our engine is performing the following steps in order to generate the individual sentiment scores:1)  Filtering and selection of relevant information per topic,

2)  Computation of relevance score per article ,

3)  Computation of sentiment score per article,

4)  Computation of weighted average score of the individual topic.

3.  What is the frequency of the sentiment score generation?

Sentiment scores are being generated every 5 minutes. Real time can be done on demand.

4.  From one day to another sentiment score goes from 1 to 10 on various stocks, it

seems very sensitive - so today seems as "positive" (good feeling), tomorrow it

can become "negative" with a feeling very low.

News analytics reaction could be more violent than spot price reflection/ movements. That could

be one effective way to identify market signals.

Economics research Analysts, journalists and bloggers use various forms of reports to follow the

trendy topics. Basically these are the topics that will increase their sales or number of visitors if

we talk about websites.

the sensitivity. And it creates a particular news analytics that helps to detect market patterns; it is

 being called "Buzz".

Content of buzz activities can be provided on demand.

5.  Do you have any historical data available on the system?
