Finding Balance

There was a time in my life where I wouldbecome both physically and mentallyexhausted working 12 – 14 hours a day. Iwas committed to doing it all: breakcompany records, lead the best team, improve my personal best... I never stopped to ask myself what it was costing me, how long I could keep it up, or what would be left of my lifeonce I finally hit 'that wall." As I began to consider that question, Irealized something important. I had achoice. I was given 24 hours a day and how I chose to use those hours was completely my choice. I could try to convince myself that it was all out of my control. But, if I continued to believe it was out of my control, I would have no chance to change it.

I realized that learning to manage myemotions, time, thoughts and actionswould allow me the greatest potential forachieving results for a new future. When we stay stuck in our crazy, overworked and emotionally stressed lives,we run the risk of missing opportunities. The craziness actually becomes ourcomfort zone.

LIFE OUT OF BALANCE IS A LIFE OF

MISSING MOMENTS

Unfortunately, it is also the zone that isvoid of time with family, exercising, eatinghealthy, or learning a new skill. We become accustomed to the frenzy,stress and anxiety, believing it to be'normal.' I assure you, it is not. Sometimes something happens to causeus to wake up. Maybe it’s an illness or atragic accident. It could be something assimple as your child’s 18th birthday whenyou wake up and realize all you’vemissed over the past 18 years of their life.

Whatever brought you here, this is thebeginning of a new journey. This is a journey of balance. There are seven primary areas we'regoing to focus on:

However, it’s important to maintain some level of focus in each of the areas if we are to achieve that desired balance. As the demands of work and home responsibilities take their toll on us, it’s easy to fall into over load. We attempt to “manage” everything from our financesto our relationships to our civic responsibilities. The pages that follow are designed to help you achieve a strategic view of what balance will look like in all the areas of your life. Once you complete it, you will have an idea of which areas you might want or need to make some changes in. You can start living life with balance TODAY instead of waiting for some future time.
