Fifth Sunday of Easter May 10, 2020
[ 2 ] SAINT CLARE of ASSISI PARISH
Today marks the 8th Sunday that we are not able to gather as a parish community. How did we get here?
At the beginning of this quarantine, my initial thought was how are we going to live our day to day lives with being sheltered in place. As the days progressed through this pandemic, I realized this was an opportunity for me to grow deeper in my faith.
We were in the Easter season and the holiest week of the year was upon us and I knew I needed to do something. This is when my day to day life changed to include new opportunities. I had more time for reflection, prayer, participated in the Triduum, enrolled in 2 online classes centering around faith formation, learned new ways to connect to the parish staff, the parish families and my own family.
Have your thoughts changed as to what really is important in your life? I realized it is not the day to day tasks that fill my life, it is a deeper faith in Christ. The gospel reading today suns it up perfectly. John writes “Jesus said to him, I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. If you know me, then you will also know my Father. From now on you do know him and have seen him.” Today we honor our Mothers. The women who said “yes” when they heard the news that they were blessed with child. We honor the Blessed Mother who said “yes” to God and gave birth to Our Savior. We are thankful and blessed. For those mothers, grandmothers, godmothers, and those who have been like a mother to us, who are still alive – cherish them! For those who have gone home to be with the Lord –remember them! For those who are separated from their loved ones due to the pandemic –pray for that day when you can hug and kiss them again! We believe God is with us and hears our prayers. We believe as Catholics that we will one day celebrate Mass together in Church as a parish community. For the children preparing for the Eucharist for the first time, may they know that the entire parish community is waiting in anticipation to share in your special day.
Happy Mother’s Day

Hoy honramos a nuestras madres.

WEEK AT A GLANCE
USCCB Priority Resources as
Regards to COVID-19 Through the good leadership of our shepherds, the Church is experiencing the remarkable grace of spiritual closeness from a distance. To the extent you may find it helpful, the Conference has been collecting examples of how our community of faith has sought to remain with one another in prayer during these difficult times. You may find the list here: http://www.usccb.org/coronavirus In the days ahead, we will update this page as we find and you share additional resources. USCCB Public Affairs and Episcopal Resources teams are partnering also with the Office of Divine Worship, the Office of Laity, Marriage, Family Life and Youth, and other Conference colleagues to develop new resources to help the faithful in our home prayer. These are being prepared for Catholic Current. Those resources are here: https://catholiccurrent.org/covid19/

Stewards Cornerstones May 10, 2020
5th Sunday of Easter
“The stone which the builders rejected has become the cornerstone.”
1 PETER 2:7
Every person has been given gifts from the Holy Spirit. These are called
“charisms” and they are used to build God’s kingdom on earth. While many
people are able to recognize their nat-ural talents and abilities, they may
be unsure of their
charisms as Christian Stewards. If you know someone who is struggling for a direction in life, give them a little en-
couragement. Help them discern their charisms and how God is calling them
to use them.
Remember - no gift is too small or Insignificant in God’s salvation plan.
