Claude Bergeron has been Executive Vice-President and Chief Risk Officer since November 2009. In this capacity, he oversees the teams responsible for monitoring, measuring and analyzing risk at la Caisse. His team is also responsible for promoting a risk culture within the institution by focusing on specialized expertise in la Caisse’s investment areas and applying the tools developed to identify risks. The team also plays an active role in all management processes. Co-Chair of the Investment-Risk Committee, Mr. Bergeron sits on the Executive Committee.

John DenhamChief Investment OfficerWorkplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB)

John is the Chief Investment Officer for the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board. In his role as the Chief Investment Officer, John is responsible for the development, management and implementation of the Strategic Investment Plan for the WSIB Insurance Fund, Loss of Retirement Income Fund and WSIB Employee’s Pension Fund. John Denham has been employed with the WSIB since January, 2005. Previously John worked for the IBM Retirement Funds team managing total fund governance and investments for the Canadian fund and Domestic Equities for the US Retirement Fund. Prior to IBM, John managed the Xerox Canada Retirement Fund and Treasury Operations group for 9 years. Prior to Xerox, John worked for Manulife and in public practice with Deloitte & Touche. Having recently joined OPTrust as the Chief Investment Officer, James C. Davis brings over 25 years of strategic investment planning and leadership experience, including proven results in liability driven investing and portfolio design. In his previous role, James led the team responsible for investment strategy at the Total Fund and oversaw the integration of the responsible investing framework within various investment departments at the Ontario Teachers Pension Plan.

James’ leadership and speaking engagement skills have crossed many forums within the pension industry. His multi-faceted leadership experience includes an array of directives; from leading a team of research analysts and portfolio managers, to executive level Board and Senior Management updates on global economic scenarios and quantitative market assessments.

James comes to lead the OPTrust Investment team with a wealth of experience and enthusiasm for the growth of its member’s pension fund. Martin LerouxVice President, Policy Portfolio & Asset Liability ManagementPSP Investments

Martin is a seasoned, financial services professional with more than 25 years of institutional investment experience in portfolio construction and management, including strategic asset allocation, and business development.Martin joined PSP Investments, one of Canada’s biggest institutional investors, in June 2008 and was appointed Vice President, Portfolio and Asset-Liability Management, in 2010. In his current position as Vice President, Portfolio Construction, CIO Group, he leads an investment team responsible for the construction of PSP`s total fund portfolio.

Martin previously worked for almost 10 years with Fidelity Investments: initially, as an analyst then as a manager of the institutional asset allocation team in Boston, and later as Vice President, Consultant Relations and Institutional Investors, and member of the Canadian institutional leadership team. Martin began his career as a pension actuary then as an investment consultant and associate with William Mercer Human Resources Consultancy Limited in Montréal.

Martin is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries and a Member of the Canadian Institute of Actuaries, where he has served on the Committee on Investment Practice and the Committee on Enterprise Risk Application.

Martin holds a BSc in Mathematics, specializing in Actuarial Science, from the Université de Montréal

Steve is the Executive Director of Capital Markets for the Government of Alberta. Steve heads up the Capital Markets team responsible for the development and execution of the Province of Alberta’s borrowing and debt management strategy, alternative finance projects and the development of investment strategy and investment policy for the Province’s $18 billion Heritage Fund and other provincial endowments. He advises government on the use of the Provincial credit and relationships with the global capital markets and investor communities. Terri is responsible for all aspects of the plan and including governance, risk management, customer service, pension administration, and investments. Prior to this, Terri oversaw the pension investments for Royal Bank of Canada’s global pension plans.

Terri is an active participant in the Canadian pension industry and is frequently asked to speak and write on various investment topics. She was recognized by peers with the Leading Pension Plan Sponsor in 2011 and has been recognized in other years as one of the Top 25 Most Influential Plan Sponsors. She is an active member of the Pension Investment Association of Canada having chaired PIAC’s Government Relations Committee from 2010-2011, chaired PIAC’s Investment Practices Committee from 2005-2009, served on PIAC’s Board of Directors from 2004-2009, and chaired the PIAC Board in 2007.
