Inspiration + Influence

I like to surround myself with creative and musical people. Alot of my inspiration comes from home craft and raw materials. I like to create something new from something old and keen to learn new methods and techniques during the process. My style influence is a mixture of old and new trends. From the Twenties onwards. Especially that of Sixties style icon Edie Sedgwick to present day style icon Lauren Conrad.

This artical is a tribute to the late Edie Sedgwick. My hero and inspiration. The artical is a difinitive account of her life as a socialite, muse and style icon.

Edie Sedgwick. American actress, model, heiress, socialite, style icon, lover, friend and addict. She was Andy Warhol’s ‘superstar’, a muse to Bob Dylan and Americas ‘it girl of the 60’s’. Her life was short but her influence continues to have a remarkable impact on fashion and modern culture. Vogue magazine presents a defini-tive tribute to Edie and her brief life.

Forty yearshave passed since the starlet’s life has ended but we have not forgotten her beauty, those long skinny legs, porcelain skin and pale lipstick. Growing up on her families Californian ranch Edie moved to Cambridge to study art atHarvard College in 1963. She had previously spent time in psychiatric hospitals battling anorexia. Boys at Harvard saw a delicate, vulnerable girl who wasintriguing and mystifying. A former classmate exclaimed, ‘everyone was trying to save Edie from herself’.

‘She was it. I don’t know what it is, but Andy always wanted to be around people who lived it, were born it, did it all, did anything they wanted to do, and that was Edie.’ Fashion designer Betsey Johnson.
