Speech of VP of Exchange

Hello IAAS Members from all over the world,

I’m honored to present myself in front of all these spectacular people.

First of all, I want to thank God that always gives me the happiness with you all and

also I want to thank everyone that attended World Congress in Indonesia who support

me at the election and trusted me to be Vice President of Exchange for the year 2010-

2011. It is an amazing opportunity for me to work with all of you and contribute in

IAAS. IAAS can’t stand alone without our support and energy, so that’s why I invite

all of you to contribute in this amazing organization.

Just so you get to know me a little bit, I am Eri Hadyansyah and I’m in the fourth year

of Brawijaya University at Indonesia and currently studying in Agro Industrial

Technology Department. I’m an easy- going person and interested in travelling. I have

learned many things from IAAS, which is not just an international organization but a

big family who has given me many experiences and knowledge.

I would like to invite all IAASers to participate at the Exchange program and get new

experience by sharing culture and knowledge. It’s too easy for you to join, just surf

Exchange Program

Throughout more than 50 years, IAAS exchange program has been offering the unique opportunity for students to experience and

learn about agricultural related subjects on an international level, while broadening their own views and helping to create open and

internationally-minded people. By expro, Students have the possibility to experience how the agricultural institutes work in another

country, exchange the ideas, experiences and information. Expro has generally 2 types of practices, ceres program and archimedes

program.

Ceres is one partof the Exchange program who has the outdoor activity like working in farm as training. This activity is suitable

for you who love being on the field. It offers the students a possibility to meet and learn about different cultures of another country.

Your job is depend on the farmer in your hosting place, you also can work with many people by teams or group. We have many places

for ceres like UD Artha for bonsai, Soerjanto orchid, Wakatobi Dive Resort and Research Center of Operation Wallacea in Indonesia,

seed development and research center and various horticultural crops, pig farm in Poland, dairy cattle in Finland, Strawberry and

tobacco farm in Switzerland, Fisheries and oragnic farm in Germany ,etc.

Archimedes is the other type of expro that offer students to get internship at factory / company in agricultural base and provide

laboratory for students who needs having a research or thesis at University. as archimedes is a new expro type, it’s still being developed

and need contribution to all excos to develop it. But we are now having 3 places that offer archimedes in Austria, Thailand offer

research in ruminant nutrition and feeding, and Indonesia offer reserach of food technology and forestry.

Expro will make you get knowledge in agicultural base and transform you into studetns that expertise in your agriculture

knowledge, it can improve your skill after getting many and valuable practices in here. Just feel free and happy by joining Expro. Expo

IAAS Poland

Farm of Michał Ulanowski

The size of farm is 60 hectares.

On the farm are grown cereals (wheat, rey, barley) and legumes (red clover). Pigs are reared in a closed cycle – 30 sows, which is 600-700 pigs per year.

The practice will be to work with pigs (farrowing, poultry farm, young pigs, food for pigs) and the production plant (harvest, assisting with work of filed).

Duration of this internship: 1-12 months, starting from January to December

Working hours/Days: 8h per day, 5 days per week

No salary. Farmer provides food and accommodation

Also, the student should have health insurance (sickness, accident).

The student must be interested in agriculture, he/she should be able to work physically.

IAAS Thailand

Specific information IAAS exchange program in Thailand is offering the good opportunity for students to

experience and learn about agricultural related to farming systems, animal production, mixed

farming and/or work in on-farm work in mixed farming where animals and crops are integrated.

It’s located at university research farms.

Month available to open exchange program : June-july Job description :

Students will be working along with small dairy farm and have to help the farmers with their

routine work such as animal feeding, milking, feed preparation, cleaning the pen etc.

The students will be working along with on-going research work in ruminant nutrition and

feeding.

Students will attend the seminars, meetings to exchange ideas, experiences and information

in class or annual conferences etc.
