1. Establishment of the Department:

The Department of Sociology was established in the year 1993. The College has seven

subjects taught at the B.A. special level and three subjects taught at the general level.

Sociology is one of the subjects taught at the general level.

Sociology is taught from the first year of B.A. course to the final year. The subject is also

taught at the junior College level also. The subjects offered are as follows:

7. Seminars and Guest Lectures Organized by the Department:

The Department has organized two seminars at the University level. The Themes of the

seminar were,

b. Impact of Industrialization on Rural Society.

Students from various Colleges in and around Pune District participated in the Seminars.

These Seminars were co-sponsored by the Board of College and University Development,

University of Pune and Shardabai Pawar Mahila Mahavidyalaya. Total grant of Rs. Twenty

thousand were received from the University per Seminar.

The department also organized two Expert Lectures. These Lectures were provided Financial

Assistance of Rs. Two Thousand per Lecture from the University of Pune. The Lectures were

delivered by

a. Dr. V. V. Kulkarni, former member of Planning Commission, Govt. of India.

b. Dr. Vijay Mane, Professor at MSW.

8. Research Projects:

The faculty in the Department has completed two research projects. They are as follows:

a. V. P. Gaikwad has completed the Minor Research Project, „Contribution of Industries

in Baramati MIDC towards Social Development‟. The project was provided Financial

Assistance of Rs. Thirty Three Thousand from the UGC.

b. V. P. Gaikwad has completed the Minor Research Project, „The Study of Industrial

Profile in Baramati MIDC‟. The project was provided Financial Assistance of Rs.

Fifty Thousand from the Board of College and University Development, University of

Pune.
