How does Your Media Product Represent Particular Social Groups?

The two main social groups present in our film are males and teenagers. With the aim of creating a thriller film an action scene is needed and to show the best physical action and aggression between scenes, in our opinion the males gender was needed. We furthermore planned a chase scene involving running and action. Women could complete this job just as good as men but women tend to be less physical than men and if two men were featured in this film there would supposedly be a physical balance which could result in the chase being more intense. To add we also wanted costumes similar to James Bond (suit and tie) and in the James Bond films women are used more for sexual desire and sexistly used for appearance. As James Bond had such a large impact on our choices, costumes, props and our filming having men as the main characters had to be an option.

Also used teenagers rather than older men because we needed to connect with our target audience which was around 15-18. Other than the race, sex and location something greater was needed and we thought having younger men (teenagers) as our actors would mean connecting more with our audience. We also represented the teenagers actors more like men. Dressing the actors like men and making the props suitable for older people this allowed us to change between the aggression of men and the vulnerability of teenagers/children. This would make the chase scenes more intense with the mens side of the film and the hard hitting death scene with the teenagers side of the film. This could be considered an advantage as it allowed us to show the male or teenagers side when we wanted but could be considered a disadvantage as some people over our target audience could be shocked by how we use death with teenagers.
