EVALUATION QUESTION 2
How does your media product represent different social groups?
TARGET AUDIENCE We identified our target audience for our
film in our research by conducting a survey. Our results told us that most of the people who answered our survey were aged 16-30.
Most of our target audience were female although this was not a huge majority.
TEENAGERS The main social group we have represented in
our projects is teenagers. When we asked our target audience what characters they would like to star in the film they responded “a group of teenagers”.
Although we only had one teenage actress, this was because we were only creating the first two minutes. If we had gone on to make the rest of the film there would be more teenage cast.
We wanted to use teenagers as they are stereotypically rebellious and irresponsible so we thought this would make the Horror film more interesting.
TEENAGERS House of Wax (2005) is a Horror film the
represents the teenage social group.
GENDER Our main character was a female
teenager. We used a girl as we wanted her to appear a victim and show her vulnerability as this is stereotypical of female characters, particularly in Horror films.
Our actress wore a white night dress for her costume to connote her innocence and to fit the stereotype of her gender.
GENDER The Exorcism of Emily Rose (2005) represents a
stereotypical female playing a victim.
Alex’s costume in our film is similar to the actress in The Exorcism of Emily Rose as they both wear quite long, white dresses which suggest naivety and vulnerability.

GENDER The Exorcist (1978) portrays a younger
female character who is also weak and helpless. She is also wearing a similar costume to the one Alex is wearing in our own project.
