Euclid Creek Tunnel: By the Numbers

• Tunnel

– 24’ diameter

– 11,650/17,750’

– 60,100,000 gallons

• ~30 near surface structures

– 11 complete

– 14 under construction

• Shafts: 5 total

– 24’ to 60’ diameter

– 185-225’ deep

– 3 full depth, 2 @ mid

• 2,440 linear feet of open cut pipe placed

• 2,110 linear feet of microtunnel complete

– 240 more to go

Construction Updates

• Mackenzie has “mined and lined” more than half of Euclid Creek Tunnel

• Nottingham at Lakeshore now opened

• E 174th at Lakeshore to Nottingham closed

• E 156th at Lakeshore temporarily closed (to be reopened by June)

Shaft #1: Construction Staging Site

• “Mackenzie” tunneled and lined 11,650’+

• Operating 24/7 with regularly-scheduled maintenance periods

• Lake Erie tunneling completed

• Tunneling beneath Beulah Park completed

Shaft #2: Easterly WWTP

• Shaft 2: 95 feet excavated

– Blasting last 100 feet; will begin this year

• Structure 2-2: installing final lining

• Structure 2-8: installing final lining

• East 156th Street

– Road temporarily closed for three weeks, to be reopened by June (close mid July)

– Detour for residents requiring access to East 156th

Street north of closure is via apartment complex

– West side sidewalk still closed

• Internal Pre Blast Surveys

– For structures within 500’ with basements only

– 3 copies of letters distributed (2 copies via certified mail and 1 copy hand delivered)

– Surveys currently on going for those residents that replied to letter

• Excavation of shaft is complete at this site

• Nottingham Road is re-opened

• East 174th Street closed (Structures 4-5 and 4-6)

• Lakeshore Boulevard Relief Sewer begins construction before completion of baffle structure lining

Site #4: Lakeshore Blvd. Relief Sewer

• New Shaft (4-1A) Constructed

– 22’ excavation diameter, 16’ finished diameter

– 70’ deep

• 66” trenchless sewer pipe, tunneled from Euclid Creek Pump Station to Shaft 4

Site #4: Lakeshore Blvd. Relief SewerConstruction Schedule

• July 2013 January 2015

– Construction of new Shaft by Euclid CreekPump Station

– Trenchless construction from Triangle Park tonew shaft by pump station

– Contractor: McNally/Kiewit ECT JV

• March 2014 September 2015

– Open cut construction on Lakeshore Blvd.,East Park Dr. & Crestland Rd. and rehabilitation of Euclid Creek Pump Station

– Contractor: TBD

Site #5: Nottingham & St. Clair

• Excavation complete of Shaft 5:225 feet excavated

• Concrete placement for final lining began week of April 8th

– 4,700 cy of concrete

• Continued excavation of Structure 5-4

• Closure of St. Clair at E 185th upcoming June/July
