Arcotec – an adapted work company – is active since 1966 in the fi eld of produc-tion and subcontrac-ting of a great variety of products using complex logistics processes.

This non-profi t asso-ciation located in Bruges employs 420 persons, 85% of

whom are disabled people.

The solution deve-loped by Etilux enables the workers to identify pallets but also to follow their movements in the whole storehouse thanks to a combi-nation of 2 technolo-gies: RFID & geoloca-tion.

When a pallet arrives at the storehouse, it is directly equipped with a RFID tag, which contains information about the goods on the pallet. The 2 sen-sors on the forklifts enable the driver to know exactly which pallet he is loading.

Our know-how : inkjet marking on tertiary packaging

The company Café Liégeois wanted an inkjet marking system for tertiary packa-ging (cardboard boxes). Etilux has installed an inkjet marking system for card-board box marking i.e. high resolution inkjet printers called APLINK M-700.

The fl exibility was a key point for Café Liégeois because the company had to meet marking demands such as EAN13, EAN128 codes, text, logo.

A new crate for fresh pro-ducts has also been espe-cially designed for Delhaize. It can be folded and enable a volume reduction of 79% - when carried empty.

Each crate is individually identifi ed by a unique GRAI (Global Reusable Asset Iden-tifi er) barcode and by a RFID tag (an UHF encapsulated

tag, which is located in an adapted place).

Etilux has designed a com-plete production line for the tags encapsulation, the inser-tion of the tag in the crate and the programming of the GRAI code on the basis of the tag. After the palletization of 160 crates, the passage under a RFID portal validates the

pallet content and creates a SSCC label and sends an EDI fi le to the pooler.

The company Escapo is a medicine and pharmaceutical product wholesaler.

This central buying offi ce off ers diff erent products and services such as medicine dis-tribution but also a computer service for chemists. Etilux took care of the sale but also

of the installation of the ma-terial in 30 chemist’s shops of the Escapo network.

Etilux installed Toshiba EV4T 200 dpi offi ce printers and confi gured them in the com-puter system of the pharma-cies. This solution enables the printing of posologies on the

bottles and eliminates the risk of error presented by label reading.

Our know-how: identifi cation of cardboard boxes on the supply chain

Etilux has made a tailor-made installation which can be opti-mally integrated in Stassens’ existing production fl ows. This solution is part of a bigger pro-ject, implemented by Etilux. This project is the complete integration of the application to the Navision ERP through a middleware to guarantee the

products traceability.

Batch numbers, expiry dates and above all EAN128 are printed on the boxes by Aplink MR printers that can print up to 60 messages/minute on upper and lateral sides of the boxes. The print height is 70 mm. The whole solution is also designed to

print SSCC labels for pallets and to manage stock with Wi-reless handheld terminals.

Our know-how: encapsulated RFID tags

To avoid long queues due to mail collection in Saudi Arabian post offi ces, the Saudi Postal Corporation decided to off er its citizens a home service based on the new RFID technology. That project was called ’Wa-sel Service’. The implemen-tation phase concerned the installation of 1.2 million boxes in 10 months time in the town of Riyadh. In this

context, Etilux supplied the order of 1.2 million RFID tags in 2005 and 2006.

From a technical point of view, the metal letterboxes are designed with a place for the RFID tag, which is encapsulated in a plastic housing to limit the interfe-rences between metal and tag. The implementation is in process in diff erent town

The company DSM, a sub-sidiary of Upignac Group, well-known for its foie gras, is specialized in production and packaging of fi sh ter-rines. Etilux has provided and implemented a solution which includes the passage of the products on a conveyor, a weighing check system and above all a label print & apply system.

The automatic labelling sys-tem UBS APL3000 is driven by an ERP for printing infor-mation. It is also equipped with a Sato printing motor and with a labelling system which applies labels of 35 x 115 mm by wiping-on in a linear way. This method enables to apply labels on products which are not perfectly fl at and to avoid contact with the items to pre-vent damage.

The Pôle Image de Liège awarded to Etilux the contract to realise an audiovisual projection room and to fi t some premises with public address systems.

Etilux took care of the installation of a new audiovisual interactive system in the new rooms of the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Liège.

The students can fol-low each step of a dis-section on high defi -nition video displays.

The surgeon works in another room and all the operation is fi l-med by camcorders equipped with the latest digital techno-logy. The teacher can also add texts in real time on the picture.

This powerful teachi-ng tool is completed by a multiplex sound

system that enables students, teachers and surgeons to talk together in all the rooms. The whole ins-tallation is managed by automation on a touch screen and is very fast and easy to use.
