Background/History: Te first Johnny Hercules (real nameHenry Herc Johnson), a hero slain during the Battle o Detroit, got his powers o super-strength rom an amulet imbuwith the Hercules Force, a power o mystic goodness. In acit was the arcane energy that gave the Greek hero Hercules powers and that was lef behind on Earth when he ascendedOlympus as a god. Johnson received the amulet rom an aption o Zeus when Johnsons circus troupe toured Greece.

Afer Johnny Herculess death, the amulet, which accorto several mystic superheroes now seemed to be totally devo power, was buried with him. But apparently the HerculesForce wasnt really a part o the amulet it simply embodiitsel in a physical object or a time. In 2005 a Millennium CUniversity classics student, Henry Grant, somehow caughtattention o the Hercules Force, which maniested itsel in (What the Force had been doing during the intervening thiteen years is unknown, though apparently it had been lookor the right person to bond with.)

Grant had the chance to go on an archaeological dig nethe ancient city o iryns in Greece. While he was there hisnobility o heart and strength o soul attracted the attention

the Hercules Force. When the Force merged with him, he afit each other perectly. Inspired by the Greek myths he loso much, Grant decided to use his newound strength and rience in the cause o Justice as the new Johnny Hercules.

Johnny Hercules has ought many superhuman and mycal oes over his years as a crimebuster, but two arch-enemistand out in particular. One is yphon, the Monster-Makerrecipient o the yphon Force that is sort o the opposite othe Hercules Force. yphon can grow to great size and becoprodigiously strong, but his most fiendish power is the abilicreate all sorts o monsters with which to bedevil Johnny Hcules and, indeed, all humanity. Hecate, who wants to steal the Hercules Force and use it orarious arcane purposes (including powering the Hepatizon

Hoplites, her army o powerul golems).Te first Johnny Hercules claimed Zeus had set him twelve

asks that, when completed, would make him the mightiestuperhero on Earth. I so, no such list o tasks has ever beenssigned to the new bearer o the Hercules Force at least asar as he knows.

ersonality/Motivation: Johnny Hercules is an optimistic,

appy soul who lives lie to the ullest and drinks deep o allhat the world has too offer. Unortunately his exuberance andoisterousness sometimes cause him problems (or example, inis enthusiasm he might accidentally break something). He alsoas a low tolerance or rustration. In situations where he cantgure out what to do or things arent going his way, his typicalsolution is to smash whatevers annoying him.

Quote: ::deep, booming laughter:: Tat was a good try, littleman, but it will take more than that to hurt Johnny Hercules.Come, try again pit your strength against mine!

owers/Tactics: Johnny Hercules is a pretty straightorwardghter. He doesnt have much in the way o tactics or clever

moves; he typically just runs or leaps to the biggest, toughestooking oe and punches him. I that doesnt get the job doneell try to find something in the environment that will let himit even harder or otherwise get through the targets deenses.

Appearance: Johnny Hercules is six and a hal eet tall andxtremely muscular. When fighting crime he wears a sort orown leather vest, with matching bracers on his wrists, bootsn his eet, and broad belt to hold up his crimson-coloredants. Te buckle on the belt shows a stylized JH logo. Heonceals his identity with a sort o domino mask done in a

    Greek-like style.

Background/History: Albert Borondin was an archaeologiworking in the Mediterranean region. Angry and bitter thascientific community scorned his groundbreaking theorieabout the ancient world and considered him a raud, he waperect vessel or the yphon Force, a orce o evil energy thexists as a sort o cosmic counterbalance to the Hercules FoTe yphon Force filled him with its awesome power, and hbecame yphon, the Monster-Maker!

Personality/Motivation: yphon is a orce o chaos anddestruction. He hates the gods (all o them, not just the Gre

gods, though his hatred or them is deeper) and exists to haand destroy them. He particularly wants to slay Johnny Hercules, one o whose purposes in lie is to restrain or destroyyphon.

Quote: Not even you can deeat my matchless monsters!

Powers/Tactics: yphon is a bold, aggressive fighter, eagerpit his physical might against anyone who dares to stand aghim. I he isnt at ull size when combat starts, he uses hisGrowth as soon as possible. I he can catch several oes togehell immolate them with his lava breath.

I he doesnt already have some monsters with him, ypwill usually take a Phase to Summon some. Additionally, i

cut or otherwise made to bleed, every 2 BODY worth o blohe loses immediately turns into anothermonster.

Campaign Use: yphon (and Johnny Hercules and Hecatethat matter) give you a way to incorporate elements o Greemythology into your campaign despite the existence o theBan (see CV1 227). Tere might even be other Forces outthere rom other gods and divine monsters, though this seeunlikely.

I you want to use yphon as a single villain acing anentire team o heroes, you should consider giving him someDamage Reduction or Damage Negation so that he isnt ovewhelmed by numbers.

Associates, Allies, And Adversaries: yphon rarely mixes any other villains in the Champions Universe; hes too arro-gant to think he needs help. He might accept some o themminions, though.

Te master geneticist eleios is extremely interested inyphon. Hed like to obtain samples o his tissue (or even behis blood) or study. Replicating yphons power to instantlcreate monsters rom his blood would make the Perect Maeven greater threat to the world.

Background/History: Tis character sheet represents an eaavatar o Hecate, goddess o black magic and the night. (Shcannot come to Earth in her true orm because o the Ban; CV1 227.) But even her avatar is powerul enough to challemost superteams!

Personality/Motivation: Hecate is a dark, cruel goddess whenjoys toying with mortals. She desires greater power not o

among the Olympians, but all the ancient pantheons, and wdo whatever she must to obtain it. Given the enormous powcertain mortals (i.e., superhumans) now possess, her schemofen involve trying to find a way to use them to deeat herenemies or urther her goals without them knowing it.

Quote: ruly you are a ool, mortal. Do you think you canstand against the goddess o magic? Against she who makesmighty Zeus and Apollo tremble with ear?

ampaign Use: Given the size o her Variable Power Pool,Hecate is best used as a single quasi-master villain that you pitgainst an entire team o heroes. I necessary she has not onlyer hounds, but summoned demons and undead, to protect hernd keep some o her adversaries busy.

Associates, Allies, And Adversaries: Hecate has too muchivine pride to deal with mortals, no matter how powerul, asquals. However, other gods or god-like beings are potentialartners or her. In the past she has worked with ezcatlipoca

o try to shatter the Ban (ortunately, they ailed). She andakoanes once established uneasy alliance (shes one o the ew

eings the Archlich respects enough to work with), but haveot teamed up again since that time.

Appearance: Hecate most ofen appears to mortals as a beauti-ul, pale-skinned woman who wears her night-dark hair upsometimes with a ew strands hanging down her neck). She

wears a black gown and is sometimes accompanied by her twoery-eyed, fire-breathing hell-hounds; the barking o dogs canfen be heard in her presence (or as a warning that she ap-roaches).

HECATE FACTSHere are some acts characters and NPCs might know aboutHecate i they succeed with an appropriate Skill Roll:

N/R: Hecate is an immensely powerul supervillainess whowields mighty magics.

K/R: Shes actually the ancient Greek goddess o black magicand the night.

-1: Tree fierce hell-hounds ofen accompany her, and she

can also summon demons and undead to serve her.

-2: Hecate can cast powerul curses that weaken and disableher oes.

-6: Hecates magical powers actually exceed those o ako-anes the Undying King.
