Monteverdi Field School Summer 2020 Dates: May 24th - July 1st Embark on an interdisciplinary experience combining engineering and archeology, the “Field School at Monteverdi.” Partner with students from SUNY Buffalo, Michigan State and University of Siena, Italy. Students will participate in excavations of late Etruscan and Roman-Medieval villages. Engineering students will engage in remote sensing work including drone photography of the archaeological site, as well as excavation. Excavating will occur in the morning, with the more technical work in the afternoon. Credits: Cooper engineering students will receive 6 credits and empirical experience for EID 300 Application deadline: March 1st

Dates: May 24th - July 1st

Embark on an interdisciplinary experience combining engineering and archeology, the “Field School at Monteverdi.” Partner with students from SUNY Buffalo, Michigan State and University of Siena, Italy.   Students will participate in excavations of late Etruscan and Roman-Medieval villages.  Engineering students will engage in remote sensing work including drone photography of the archaeological site, as well as excavation.  Excavating will occur in the morning, with the more technical work in the afternoon.

Who should apply?

Engineering students will be introduced to different Geophysical surveying methods, GIS 3D Augmented Reality and architectural Reconstructions and small finds.

Knowledge of Italian preferred, but not required.

Monteverdi Field School Summer 2020

Location: Siena, Grosseto and Florence, Italy

Cost: $5,500 for room and board and the project fees (the project partners are providing equipment, site access, etc). 

Airfare is additional.
