Ask your organisation:
• What is your aim?
• Who will maintain the page?
• Who else can help?
• What are your key messages?
• What are your restrictions?
• How will you measure success?
And
Have a detailed risk strategy.

• Choose a name that people can spell
• Choose a profile picture that is clear and looks good square
• Fill in all the standard fields on the page
• Tell people who you are and how to contact you
• Adjust your settings
• Link to your website and blog
• Link to your Twitter account
• Add photos to show people what you do and who you are
• Claim your vanity URL
Get some fans!
• Invite your friends
• Tell everyone in your organisation to join
• Add a link to your Facebook page to your website
• Write a story about Facebook for your newsletter
• Got a reception desk? Create a sign advertising your page
• Add a link to Facebook to your email signature
• Write an email signature for your workmates
• Add a story about your Facebook page to the ComVoices daily media alerts
• Run a promotion or competition

• Write status updates – they’ll circle through your fan’s homepages and keep reminding them you’re there
• If someone makes a comment on your wall, answer them
• Correct misinformation in a friendly manner
• Watch your tone – you never know where it might lead you
Customise
Customising pages needs basic HTML skills
Facebook search ‘Static FBML’ to create customised pages
‘Static FBML’ will also create feature boxes on your wall
Access all applications through ‘edit page’
Picasa is the best place to store images that you need to source
Google Chrome allows easy access to image URLs
Best to create customised pages in Internet Explorer
