Managing Projects to Succeed ENABLE is an in-house leadership development program at Red River College that provides learning and development support to formal leaders. Please go the Staff Learning and Development Micro Site for additional information and detail http://blogs.rrc.ca/stafflearning/leadership/enable-program/ Managing Projects to Succeed - One Day Delivery This session will develop an introductory understanding of the generally recognized knowledge areas and good practices of project management, including: Basic terminology, and the project management framework Project management knowledge areas, processes and interactions Factors leading to successful projects Project roles, and stakeholders Initiating the project; the project charter Planning the project; the Scope Statement and Work Breakdown Structure Estimating and scheduling the project Executing principles, and managing change Managing risk in the project Checklists, and making project management work For Supervisors and Managers: The focus of this session will be the core knowledge and practices of project management, and develop both theoretical knowledge and practical skills. This session will include project management from the perspective of the project manager, project sponsor, and project customer. This will be an interactive session with the focus discussion and exercises based on a relevant project.

Managing Projects to Succeed - One Day Delivery

This session will develop an introductory understanding of the generally recognized knowledge areas and good practices of project management, including:

Attendees at this session are:

• Formal leaders who are supervising employees who are or will be leading projects and project teams

• Those leaders who require a basic understanding of the generally recognized knowledge areas and good practices of project management.

• Leaders who require an understanding of the perspective of the project manager, project sponsor and project customer

• Informal leaders who by nature of their role require a general understanding and knowledge of Project Management

Session Instructor: Gordon Gibben A recognized expert in ‘soft skills’, Gord is the president and lead instructor for GPM Training Solutions Ltd. specializing in project management training for corporate and academic clients. He is a frequent speaker and instructor at professional development conferences. An energetic and highly interactive instructor, one of Gord’s strengths is his ability to relate practical real world experience to classroom theory. Gord teaches project management courses at Red River College and has delivered a number of soft skills courses for Red River College’s corporate clients. Gord brings to his training sessions over 30 years experience in government and private sector organizations. He has managed multi-million dollar projects, established Project Management Offices, and written over sixty e-Books on project management.
