How old were you when you started singing?

I was about 7yrs old when I started. I was always good at mocking stuἀ. One day; usher’s nice and slow came on and I was really diggin the song so I started to mock him and Ive never stopped singing ever since.

What is your drive and motivation to keep you going everyday?

My drive is to be special enough to touch people around the world. There is so much pain and hurt in our lives today. More and more people are dying, graduation rate for kids is dramatically declining and I feel like I could ultimately make a diἀerence.

How often do you record?

As often as I possibly can. It’s always good to have extra material in the tank but at the same time you don’t want to make the mistake of recording too much and not rehersing so you just gotta balance the two because they’re equally important.

How did it feel when you were selected to perform on BET last week?

It was an amazing feeling when BET chose me to compete against two other amazing acts when they couldve easily chose someone else. It was definitely an honor being selected and I want to thank BET for giving me that opportunity.

What does Congrez day consist of?

When I wake up I like to get a great stretch in and then a good prayer in as well. I try and make sure I eat something light to start the day oἀ like toast and eggs or some type of fruit. Then the rest of the day is all kinds of stuἀ. Recording rehersing, shows, and appearences basically.

How did you get the name Congrez?

“Congrez” is actually apart of my real name “Henry Anthony Congress IV”. All I did was take the two s’s oἀ and added on the “Z”.

Who would you like to record with in the near future?

Kanye West is definitely at the top of my list as far as artist id want to collab with in the future. He is a musical “Genius” with an amazing mind for music.

Who do you look up to in R&B right now?

Chris Brown; that’s a no brainer. That guy has a number of amazing talants from singing, to dancing, to writing and painting and all kinds of other creative things. I’ve always had a strong admi-ration for art and creativity and I think Chris fits the mold for both.

What are some of things that Congrez brings to the music industry?

I feel like I bring honesty to the music industry. I get the sense that people are tired of being lied to. I’m not trying to be one of those guys who talk about stuἀ they’ve never really experienced before. I’m one of those guys who going to stay true to himself and his fans no matter what. True music can still be “G.O.O.D Music”

Have you ever considered acting?

Yea, no doubt about it. Acting is definitely a route I plan on taking futher along my career. I try not to think too much about it because I don’t want to lose sight of what needs to be done right now and get established in the game. Everything else will follow.

Do you play and sports?

I play almost every sport you can think of. Football and basketball are my favorites of course.

What was it like in high School for you?

My first two years I wasn’t the most popular guy in school. In my 11th grade year all of that changed when I started playin football. I made tons of friends, all of my teachers loved me; even the girls started payin me a little more attention.

If you never decided to make R&B a career what would Congrez be doing now?

No doubt that I would be in school (College). Education is important in the era we live in today and without it, life would be alot harder.

What makes Congrez diἀerent from any other singer out there?

What seperates Congrez from other singers is simple. His HEART. It just wont allow him to fail It won’t allow him to accept “no” for an an-swer. It just won’t allow him to QUIT. With that attitude, you can do any and everything you want to do. It’s just like Lil Wayne said. “The sky is the limit”
