Elthorne Park High School Newsletter
Issue 777 15th June 2017
Year 7 Charity Event for British Heart Foundation. On Friday 9th June, Year 7 students wore red in support of the British Heart Foundation’s ‘Wear It, Beat It’ campaign. Well done to all students who donated to this worthy cause. Together we raised £345.53! Special thanks to:
7T for organising the event. Amy Finnett (7H) for the extra funds she raised by dyeing her hair red! This helped
ensure that 7H won the prize for the tutor group that raised the most money. Agampreet Kaur (7T) for donating most of the sweets which were sold at break time. Charlie Dixon (7E), Robin Alsop (7L), Hafsa Hassan (7T), Ahmed Salih (7H), Ollie Barnes
- Holt (7O), Aaman Khan (7R), Molly Basheer (7N), and Milan Grewal (7P). These students were nominated by their tutors and forms as being the ‘best dressed’, they had some of the most creative outfits and wore the most number of red items to show their support for the charity.
Year 10 Pre-Public Examinations (PPEs) – June 2017 The Year 10 PPEs continue to take place this week and will run until Friday 23rd June. PPEs are an ideal opportunity for students to experience the preparation and organisation that will be required for the Summer GCSE period next summer. Parental involvement and support is a fundamental element of the success our students enjoy. We appreciate you working with us in ensuring your son or daughter understands the importance of these exams and the high level of commitment required throughout this period. We very much hope that you will continue this in stressing the significance of the PPEs, supporting revision and helping us with this very important time of GCSE study. Students will be expected to be in school as normal during the PPEs. The timetable has been organised to allow students to attend normal lessons as well as revision sessions and walking talking mocks (WTM). We have included a PPE timetable for you to use with your son or daughter in preparing them for these examinations, which can be found towards the end of this newsletter. An important part of students’ preparation is that they have all the necessary equipment (two black pens, two pencils, ruler, eraser, compass, protractor and scientific calculator) for each exam with them in a clear pencil case. Under no circumstances should mobile phones be taken into the exam hall. Students should wear full school uniform throughout the exam period. We wish your son or daughter all the best during their PPEs and we hope they are proud of their achievements in July when they receive their PPE results. Part of our examination process is to help students understand the impact of their hard work and the results of these PPEs will also allow teachers to gain a real understanding of where students are performing currently in relation to their GCSE target grades. If you have any questions, then please do get in touch. Ms Hagel, Stage 4 Achievement Co-ordinator
