DISCIPLINE Two little boys, ages 8 and 10, were excessively mischievous.

They were always getting into trouble and their parents knew all about it. If any mischief occurred in their town, the two boys were probably involved.

The boys’ mother heard that a preacher in town had been successful in disciplining children, so she asked if he would speak with her boys. The preacher agreed, but he asked to see them individually. So, the mother sent the eight year old first, in the morning, with the older boy to see the preacher in the afternoon.

The preacher, a huge man with a booming voice, sat the younger boy down and asked him sternly, “Do you know where God is, son?”

The boy’s mouth dropped open, but he made no response, sitting there wide-eyed with his mouth hanging open.

So the preacher repeated the question in an even sterner tone, “Where is God?”

Again, the boy made no attempt to answer.

The preacher raised his voice even more and shook his finger in the boy’s face and bellowed, “Where is God?”

The boy screamed and bolted from the room, ran directly home and dove into his closet, slamming the door behind him.

When his older brother found him in the closet, he asked, “What happened?”

The younger brother, gasping for breath, replied, “We are in BIG trouble this time. GOD is missing and they think we did it!”

All you have to do is clip the coupons and bring them to church to be dropped in the bags attached to the food collection boxes. We collect the coupons all year long. Thank you.

Someone in the crowd said to Jesus, "Teacher, tell my brother to share the inheritance with me." He replied to him, "Friend, who appointed me as your judge and arbitrator?" Then he said to the crowd, "Take care to guard against all greed, for though one may be rich, one's life does not consist of possessions." - Lk 12:13-15 Excerpts from the Lectionary for Mass ©2001, 1998, 1970 CCD.

VENERABLE FULTON SHEEN SPEAKS . . . “Each priest is a man with a body of soft clay. To keep that treasure pure, he has to be stretched out on a cross of fire. Our fall can be greater than the fall of anyone else because of the height from which we tumble. Of all the bad men, bad religious men are the worst, because they were called to be closer to Christ.”

LOOK FOR THIS TODAY AT MASS TODAY HOLY COMMUNION

All of our prayers thus far have served to bring us to the moment of Holy Communion, the moment when God incarnate joins himself with us, mingling his body and blood with ours, sharing his soul and divinity with our poor humanity…Much of the language of Mass has been exalted, the movements sometimes elaborate…Yet now, as the drama reaches its climax, the rite becomes spare and simple. It is beautiful in its simplicity. It is profound in its simplicity. But nonetheless it is simple…Each communicant bows reverently while approaching the priest, deacon or Eucharistic Minister. The host is held up and these words are said: “The body of Christ” The communicant says , “Amen”, and receives Jesus.” n the West we do have options for our manner of receiving the Body of Christ. We may receive it on the tongue, or we may receive it in the hand. If we receive it on the tongue, we should open our mouth wide and move the tongue forward, making the tongue visible to the minister. If we receive it in the hand, we may follow the instructions of St. Cyril of Jerusalem in the fourth century. He said to make one hand a “throne” for the other. Then hollow your palm and receive the Body of Christ, saying over it “Amen”. A right handed person would place the right hand under the left, then receive the Body of Christ in the palm of the left hand. After stepping aside, the communicant should pick up the Body of Christ with the right hand and consume it immediately. St Cyril exhorts his flock to be “careful not to lose any small particle; for whatever you lose is as much a loss as it were one of your own limbs. Tell me, if anyone gave you grains of gold, would you not hold them with the utmost care, on guard against losing any? Will you not take better care not to lose a crumb of what is more precious than gold or jewels?” St Cyril continued: “Then, after partaking of the body of Christ, draw near the cup of his blood…bowing down reverently and saying ‘Amen”. Then bring a blessing upon yourself by partaking of the blood of Christ.” We sip the cup and CAREFULLY return it to the minister who handed it to us. It is an easy thing to follow such a simple rite. This simplicity leaves our mind free for prayer. We should keep our focus on Jesus and prepare ourselves for an intimate encounter. After Communion, as we wait for the remaining worshippers to receive, we should intensify our prayer, knowing that, at that moment, we are as close to Jesus as it is possible to be.

NEW AIRPORT MASS LOCATION

Catholic Mass will now be offered each Sunday at 8:15 AM and 12:00 PM at the Hyatt Regency Orlando International Airport located inside of the main terminal. With the change, more travelers will be able to worship because the Hyatt Regency location is accessible to all. Father Robert Susann, MS, will be the celebrant. The airport chapel beyond the security checkpoint in Terminal B will continue to serve travelers as a place of respite in the Lord.

CATECHISM CORNER: HOW TO EAT AN ELEPHANT ONE BITE AT A TIME

Article 1382 (CCC): In the Eucharist, the sacrifice of Christ becomes also the sacrifice of the members of his body.

REFLECTION: Every Christian is to be a martyr and a hero, daily sacrificing oneself to others: being kind, bearing wrongs patiently, letting go of anger, giving in, putting others above self. This type of sacrifice is pleasing to the Father and ascends to him each Mass during the Eucharistic prayer along with the perfect sacrifice of Christ.

PRAYER: Jesus, help us to live a life worthy of your name, and pleasing to you in every way.
