About the eFlow License Manager EFI eFlow License Manager (LIM) is used for licensing EFI components. This is for components that don’t need the full capabilities of the main eFlow product.

After you install the eFlow License Manager, you can then apply the license for your EFI component using a license key. The installation and licensing process requires an Internet connection.

Notes If you do not have an Internet connection on the machine where you are applying the license, you can request from EFI to use a license file instead.

If you need to transfer the license to a separate machine after it has already been applied, contact EFI support. If you need to transfer the eFlow License Manager to another server, contact EFI support as you will not be able to reactivate the license for Metrix using the same activation code.

Licensing Metrix Only EFI Metrix can be licensed using the eFlow License Manager.

Note You can install EFI License Manager on the same machine as the Metrix Automation Server.

About Services When eFlow License Manager is installed, the EFI eFlow Windows Service is installed. This service must be left running for your license to be active and validated.

You can view that the service is running directly from the eFlow Control Panel.

You can also view the service in the Services window.

Installing Prerequisites The following prerequisites need to be met before installation:

• Install eFlow License Manager on a 64-bit server.

• Obtain the eFlow License Manager installation file: EFI_eFlow_(build number)_Win_LIM.exe or EFI_eFlow_(build number)_Mac_LIM.zip. Contact your EFI representative for this.

• Close all open applications and save your data.

• Ensure you have an Internet connection.

Required Connections

The eFlow License Manager requires a connection to the following URLs based on which region the License Manager is being installed. It uses the default SSL port 443 for both the URLs:

• https://eflow-eu.myprintdesk.net - EU region

• https://eflow.myprintdesk.net – All other parts of the world.

Additionally, eFlow License Manager requires a connection to http://freegeoip.net/json, in order to execute region detection.

In case you have a firewall blocking your internet connection, you should allow the eFlow License Manager installation machine to make an outbound connection to the above URL (based on your region) over port 443 (Default SSL port).

WARNING After installing the eFlow License Manager and obtaining the license, eFlow License Manager needs to validate the license at least once every 5 days. If the internet connection is not there for more than 5 days, your license will stop working. If you encounter this situation, you need to connect the eFlow License Manager machine to internet and click on the Check License button on the eFlow Control Panel window. When you do this, the above URL (based on your region) checks the integrity and validity of the license. If valid, your license will start working within a few minutes. See the “Checking your License” section for detailed step-by-step instructions.

In case internal network communication is also blocked, you should open port 8081 for http traffic on the eFlow License Manager machine. This is only for internal traffic and does not need to be opened for external traffic.

Licensing Components Using the License Manager EFI eFlow License Manager itself does not require a license to run; however, some EFI components can be centrally licensed using this method. In this release, you can only license EFI Metrix using the separate eFlow License Manager.

Prior to licensing your EFI component, you need the following:

• License key: Contact EFI support for this.

• Internet connection. See the “Installing Prerequisites” section for detailed information for the required port number that must be open when applying your license.

Notes If you do not have an Internet connection on the machine where you are applying the license, you can request from EFI to use a license file instead. If you need to transfer that license to a separate machine after it has already been applied, contact EFI support. If you need to transfer the eFlow License Manager to another server, contact EFI support as you will not be able to reactivate the license for Metrix using the same activation code.

To apply your license

1. Display the license key window by double-clicking on the EFI eFlow shortcut on your desktop. This window also automatically opens after the installation process.

2. Copy the license key number from EFI and click the Paste from clipboard link to paste it into the License Key field.

3. Enter your email address in the Contact Email field. This is used for any future communications about the license and EFI License Manager component.

4. Click OK. Central eFlow is contacted via the Internet to verify the license.

Page 16: EFI eFlow License Manager 7-1 Installation for Metrix Guide

16 l EFI eFlow License Manager 7.1 | Installation Guide

5. After the license key is verified, the system detects the region based on the external IP address on the machine. In the Region Detector window, click Yes to confirm.

The system processes the license.

The eFlow Control Panel window opens. If the license is verified successfully, the “License is Good”

message displays in the License Status section.

Note This process of verifying your license may take up to 10 minutes. If you license is still not verified, please contact EFI support.

To check your license

1. Display the eFlow Control Panel window by double-clicking on the EFI eFlow shortcut on your desktop.

2. The Message window opens. If your license is still valid, the message will indicate that the license check has completed successfully. Click OK.
